This book brings back the power of the the earlier DH stories. *by A***D on Reviewed in the United States on August 26, 2007* There was a winning formula to the early DH novels that has come back to make "Devil May Cry" an excellent story:Sin is a powerful yet tormented hero with a tragic past of betrayal during the ancient times of mythical gods. For centuries he has risked himself to protect the human race from demons. With the body of a god ( in fact he used to be one), dressed in black leather and armed with wicked weapons, Sin fights against a whole different type of demon. He and Ash are the only men in existence who have been able to stop the "Gallu Demons" from destroying the earth. These evil demons don't only kill any being they bite, they turn their victims into one of their own. With the power to reproduce so quickly, the Gallu are nearly the biggest threat to mankind. The only worse species are the "Dimme". These demons, who were imprisoned by Sin centuries ago, are about to break free. The Gallu are hoping to help free the Dimme. With Ash trapped by his promise to serve Artemis, Sin is fighting alone.Katra has the blood of three strong gods/ goddesses in her veins. She is a mighty force against evil. Unfortunately, she looks a lot like her mother. Sin has waited for centuries to kill the goddess who stole his god powers. When he entraps Katra, he is sure he has captured his ancient nemesis. When Katra learns of how her mother had taken Sin's powers, she decides to work by his side to make things right. She will help him fight the Gallu and Dimme. As always, Kenyon's love scenes do not disappoint. Throughout the book we get a clearer history of Acheron's past and his connection with Artemis, ties are revealed between past characters, and family bonds are built.One of the things I was most happy about, was the fact that Acheron's character was strong again. I was a bit put off by his weakness in "Dark Side of the Moon." Best of all, the book ends with his service to Artemis completed. Too complex to describe in this review, I only suggest reading the books in succession. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Happy for the mythology... *by S***A on Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2008* My review will be short many others here have given you the detailed version of Sin's story & Katra's. My review is about the book itself, I did enjoy it I really have loved the humor that S.K. has added to some of her books the banter is a well deserved break from some of the daily stuff, but I must say Devil May Cry was important in the series as far as getting some answers to questions that I'd had hanging around in my head, but it seemed entirely too rushed. It wasn't extremely short it was about 300 pages, but it seemed as if someone had cut out about 150 pages of it so it boom here's the answer about who Katra is, but it's a secret, but then a few pages later everyone seems to know the secret.I was thrilled to have more of Acheron, but I am so tired of him being an 11,000 year old God who is locked into sitting around for Artemis that I find it tedious. No matter how S.K. tries to explain why he continues to put up with her for the sake of the Human race it just feel contrived and stupid considering the many things she has put him through.As I said I did like that we got some answers and I was happy to find some more bad guys added to the bunch, but where it's losing me now is that what was once great about the series was that the women were real women all shapes and sizes but real. Now she has fallen into the Beautiful Goddess yes they have problem but I find it hard to feel sorry for someone immortal who is perfect. It takes away from what added feeling to the story. It was one thing to have a perfect yet flawed hunter whether they were male or female but for the other character to be equally as gorgeous just makes me yawn.
