Beautiful story!
I absolutely love this book! It is a beautiful story that helps young children understand refugees from the perspective of another child. I will definitely read it to my kindergarten students as we learn about what is a home, what types of home there are, what is homelessness, and what are refugee camps. Because some of my kindergarten students come from refugee camps, they will not only make many connections but also see themselves and their experiences in books. They will no longer be invisible!

Required reading!
The art is beautiful, the story is one for all people. The heart and soul of a child is so pure and adults have to come along and mess with that goodness. We would not have wars, walls, guns, drugs, ect., if we just kept our heart and soul pure as a child's. My opinion

This book is important. It is a simple and easy way to teach young children about refugees, while speaking to the heart. The illustrations are also beautiful. I highly recommend this one.

A beautiful book about an important subject
Lubna and Pebble is a beautiful book about a difficult but important subject, the plight of child refugees. The book does not shy away from the confusion that Lubna feels when she finds herself in 'a world of tents' far from home, but her plight is presented sensitively in ways that a young child will understand without being frightened by. When Lubna finds Pebble she finds a way to cope with the confusion of her world and anchor herself by talking to Pebble. When the time comes for Lubna to move on, she finds someone who might need Pebble's friendship and comfort more than she does. Beautifully illustrated and with a story masterfully told by Wendy Meddour, Lubna and Pebble is a story of kindness, hope and friendship even when the world is confusing and frightening. Much recommended.

A beautifully told story
This is a gentle and thoughtful book, which tells the story of a little girl in a refugee camp who makes a pebble into a friend. It really spoke to me of the ways in which children find comfort for themselves in difficult situations and of the strength and resilience which children - and all people - can show even in the most challenging circumstances. Appropriately for its young audience, these circumstances are not described in the book itself: Lubna describes herself as living in a "world of tents", and only to an adult or older child will it be evident that this is a camp for refugees. The subject is sensitively and carefully handled so that even very young children can appreciate it.The illustrations are beautiful and really bring this potentially unfamiliar world to life. I highly recommend this touching story, which tackles a potentially difficult subject with such care. It's a great way into talking with your children about the situation faced by refugees, if you want to - but that's not a necessary part of understanding or enjoying the book. It's a story that will really stay with you.

Really nice
My daughter’s class of 6-7 year olds loved this story. It gave the children an insight into what some children go through. The discussions built the children’s understanding of others, increasing their empathy for those not as fortunate as them.

Tender but powerful
This book delivers a powerful story in the most gentle and tender of ways in which a child's imagination brings her a friend that she is courageous enough to gift to another child at the end of the story. The story addresses some of the most pressing international problems of our time but from children's perspectives. A thought provoking, awakening story with captivating and thoughtful illustrations.
