Not really, a hot pot will leave a mark on it

do i need an edge coat for vertical edges?

You should. Depend on type of wood and condition.

Can this be mixed with glitter?

You should be able to mix it with glitter but you would have to add a flood coat (epoxy only) over it to make sure everything is sealed.

Can this be machined, sanded, polish after cure? I have used epoxies that never get hard.

Follow the directions provided with product....exactly. Do not divert or alter the process in any way. Epoxy will cure within about 3 days for machining...given ambient temp stays around 75*-80* F. Final coat cures with a very glossy finish; no need for polishing. Have patience & follow the directions. My countertop finish is absolutely glossy, hard, and amazing.
