I really liked this book
I really liked this book. I have read Djerassi's novels and as a chemist have followed the steroid chemistry over the years, so this reflection on the years since the Pill was launched was especially interesting. The book although it was used, was in excellent shape.

A life beyond chemistry
In October 1951 the chemist Carl Djerassi and his coworkers completed the synthesis of norethinedrone, the first oral contraceptive which later on became known as "The Pill". After 50 years, in 2001, Djerassi writes this book in which he presents a number of interesting reflections about his own discovery and the social and medical aspects connected to it. But the Pill's impact is not limited to society alone: later in life Djerassi became a successful writer in the field of science-in-fiction (not to be confused with science fiction) as well as a play writer for the genre science-in-theater, both of which have the noble purpose of bringing science and its social aspects to people. Further, Djerassi is an avid art collector and connoisseur. All these different activities became possible thanks to a scientific discovery which acted as a spark in Djerassi's life. The book is highly recommended to everyone for it shows how a person can enjoy different fields of endeavor and ultimately find enlightenment in every second of his or her life.
