Possibly not suitable for maple wood / guitar necks
I used this dye to tone the back of a maple wood guitar neck - to give it a more vintage / aged look. I applied this dye as per instructions, after carefully sanding and cleaning with white spirit to remove the previous light finish. But, sadly it turned out blotchy and streaky in the areas where the wood had a more raised grain. So I removed this dye quickly before it did too much damage, and used light coats of acrylic yellow ochre water based paint instead. The acrylic paint looked really good once it was finished off with 3 coats of teak oil. This dye was worth a try, but I can't recommend it for maple wood.
