Wyeth Splendor
I’m a huge fan of Andrew Wyeth. This books has a good representation of his work, including some of the Helga Pictures. The book itself is substantial, qualifying it for coffee table display.

This is the one!
Andrew Wyeth is my favorite artist. His work inspires in so many ways. I shopped quite a bit to find a book or two which showed a lot of his work and reproduced them well. This is THE book. I also purchased: "Andrew Wyeth: Autobiography" which is excellent. But this one is even better. Bigger plates and more of them. The price is extremely reasonable. If you are a fan of Wyeth's, I think you will be very pleased (and inspired) by this book.

Unexpected information
I have always loved the work of Andrew Wyeth and have more than a few books. The color representation is beautiful, the plates are beautiful. But what really was unexpectated was the way this book is set up. It has given me more of a running narrative about his painting throughout his life - how one painting prompts the next one. Also, his process of working out the stories in sketch after sketch puts the reader in the drivers seat and for small moments you become him. That particularly becomes apparent in the drawings of the dog over and over for his work "Groung Hog Day". You feel his story trying to be released and then does in the final painting. I'm not sure I've ever seen a painting process described so well. I highly recommend this book to anyone who not only loves Wyeth's work, but also art in general. Kudos to the author's and editors for doing that kind of research and presenting it in such a straight forward way.

A Master's Magic
Most people are surprised to learn that Andrew Wyeth is still alive and painting. Even more surprising is that, at almost 90, he continues to experiment with his technique and create great works like "The Carry" (2003)-which should have been on the cover of this book. For me, the main attraction of this book was the reproduction of "The Carry" and several other recent works (I wish there had been more). The rest of the paintings (over 100 in all) provide a good overview of Wyeth's career, focusing on landscape and still life (few figures and portraits). Two introductory essays attempt to rehabilitate Wyeth's reputation as a modernist against the popular misconception that he's a sentimental realist, and another sheds new light on Betsy's role in his life and work. Overall, an indispensable addition to any Wyeth library. After reading the book, I can't wait to see the exhibit![postscript: A.W. passed away in January 2009, at age 91.]

Great work of a magnificent artist
The book is excellent. Just by looking at the paintings you can feel the atmosphere and beauty that the artist created in the printed page. The author did a wonderful job explaining the process of how Andrew Wyeth would develop his drawings or paintings.

Having watched the TV documentary on this artist, I wanted to know and see more. The book was perfect, loads of pictures and enough paintings to satisfy.

Inspiring
I found it well worth the investment, found it well researched but very readable and images captured the essence of Wyeth.

A book to treasure
The book was published as part of an exhibition of Wyeths work. The essays are well written and informative but its the plates that delight. There is information on the medium used and the dimensions of each work which are reproduced in abundance at the back of the book. This is a book to treasure if you are a fan of Andrew Wyeths work.
