A real keeper!
I love this movie. I watch it over and over. It is certainly a "feel good movie." Set in the 1940's, it is a nice period piece and the characters are all well defined and very interesting. It is a love story but not just between the main two characters; It is full of depictions of the love of family. Most interesting to me was the evolution of character and priorities above "feelings". I really enjoyed the music as well as the beautiful cinematography. This is certainly a family movie, however be ready to answer questions if you have younger children about arranged marriages, "out of wedlock pregnancies: As well as the issues of German and Japanese prisoners and internment camps. I really enjoy watching a movie that also teaches me about historical facts. Enjoy!!!!

A hidden gem in a sea of movies I'd never otherwise watch
I so do not like Hallmark movies. I am definitely not their target audience. To be honest, I'm not even sure what possessed me to watch this....but I did....and I loved it! So much so that I bought it so I could watch it again. It's sweet, a bit sappy, predictable, and pretty much everything I don't look for in a movie. Keri Russell played her part well but I honestly think it was Skeet Ulrich's performance that won me over. He was perfect as Ray. Definitely worth watching even if it's not your preferred genre.

Love is a miracle.
It's a gentle story, one of self-realization and growth under extraordinary circumstances. The story takes place around WW2. A college-educated woman from a well-to-do family becomes pregnant by a soldier who then deserts her. Arrangements are made so that she is sent to a farm community where she marries a complete stranger, a farmer who has little education but a heart and a capacity to love such as she has never known before. She is embraced by his family and the entire community, where she learns what love is really all about - acceptance of who a person is and not only accept their differences but to embrace them. By the time the baby is born there is no doubt that the right choice was made by everyone.

My favorite Hallmark Movie based on the book by author Ann ...
My favorite Hallmark Movie based on the book by author Ann Howard Creel. The story takes place during World War II and is about two people who have never met who are immediately thrown together via an "arranged marriage" by the minister's of the two people's respective churches. She is an intellectual college graduate from Denver who has made a terrible mistake, and he is a quiet gentle farmer from a rural Colorado outpost. The story teaches us about the power of kindness, forgiveness, self-acceptance and how these simple attributes can transform one's life forever.

Great Movie!
With so much "garbage" out there, it is nice and very refreshing to find something worth watching. This is a very good movie and I'll be watching it again. I wish there were a "thumbs up" button to click on for these movies that are worth watching over and over again, I'd be pushing it for this movie for sure. :)

Good movie with history
This movie is about a young woman sent by her father to marry a farmer because her boyfriend went off to soldier leaving her single and pregnant. The farmer is not a hick and neither is his new wife. There are a few good subplots, one of Japanese relocated to farm country and one of German soldier prisoners, as well as the main story, all of which make for an interesting time.

Light, happy easy to watch
This is a beautiful, humanistic look at love. It's not cheesy at all, it's so realistic and easy to watch. If you're looking for something subtle that will make you feel good and grateful, do yourself a favor and watch this hidden gem! Also pay attention to all the subtleties in the movie. You can see how much Livvy and Ray are alike and how they fall in love in unconventional ways..

The Dutch subtitles CAN be turned off!
I was a bit dubious about this dvd, because of the review that says the Dutch subtitles cannot be turned off. Well I don't know if the dvd has been altered since that review, but happily, the subtitles on the one I received CAN be turned off. :) You just have to select 'off' on the title menu, which is in Dutch, but it's very easy to tell which word means 'off'!The picture and sound quality are perfectly adequate. Nowhere near contemporary technology standards, but it was a TV movie after all, and wasn't filmed in amazing quality to begin with. The movie itself is an absolute delight, bit of a hidden gem and I'm so glad I stumbled across it. It is gentle, heartwarming, touching without being saccharine, and has enough going on to keep you interested, despite its somewhat slow nature. It's great when you want to throw on a relaxing movie to reminisce about simpler times, escape from the noise and rush of modern life, or make you feel better about the state of the world. I can see both men and women enjoying it due to the WW2 era setting, and older teens too, though younger children would likely get bored.

such a beautiful story
I love this movie on so many levels. Beautiful scenery, wonderful costumes, and good actors. But what I love most is we see these great relationships develop right before our eyes. Friendships between women of different stations in life; the friendliness of church members, learning to be appropriately interested but not prying; brothers and sisters working together and still knowing how to respect personal matters; and finaly, the growth of a beautiful marriage relationship that started out as a mere convenience. This whole movie is a pleasant surprise if you like more subtle action in a movie.

Excellent movie.
This movie was very well done and well acted. It was not as hokey or sappy as many Hallmark movies. Keri Russell, Skeet Ulrich and Mare Winningham are great actors. The story is not action-packed, but it is very interesting and worth watching if you like heartwarming, clean movies. I was interested in the fashion, cars and decor of the time and place as well - 1945, on a farm in rural Colorado. The DVD was clear and sharp with bright colour. I highly recommend it.

A heart warming love story
As someone who loves a good love story, this film is one I enjoyed, and will watch again. The gradual development of the relationship between the two main characters, the insight into life during World War II for people who remained home, and for people in internment camps, and the themes of loneliness, acceptance and a love that was patient and kind were all aspects I appreciated.
