Got this just for the peanut butter and tomato cheese recipe
I made those enchiladas in Hollywood in the early 90s. None of my youngin vegan friends who think they invented veganism had ANY IDEA AT ALL that if you mix peanut butter and tomato paste it makes an excellent cheese tasting mix to put in the enchiladas. And now that we have so much textured soy and etc protein we can add that instead of tofu if you want. A gorgeous book. A Bible. Well worth having for its creative ideas and compassion to all animals!!! May more vegans be born in the future and turn this hellhole into a Utopia! Please.

Had to add this to my library!
I checked this book out of my local library and had to have my own copy! John Robbins has packed a LOT of research into this book and exposes a lot of what is wrong with our modern methods of food production. The Standard American Diet = SAD and Americans are seeing an epidemic of obesity and illnesses arising from the lack of proper nutrition. Ironically you can be OBESE and still be MALNOURISHED. John also exposes how most of the land in America goes to feed COWS not people and how the majority of the world's population cannot afford to eat beef. If we would stop wasting the majority of our prime farmland, we could solve the problem of world hunger.

Good book - Good premise
Book's premise is right on. Author makes a compelling argument against meat based consumption both from a socioeconomic and health standpoint. It was interesting reading and I will definitely be cutting back on meats as a result. Although I have not tried the recipes yet, they are on my to-do list for cooking. It's tuff to convince any reader to go 100% Vegan, if they're not already, but John Robbins gets as close as any author.

The BEST book to give to anyone to transition them to veganism
So mellow yet touching and a phenomenal read. Very modest and doesn't shove anything down yor throat... but doesn't fail to really opened your eyes about how much meat/dairy/egg consumption is affecting this planet, negatively. It also offers several very simple but tasty recipes to knock off yourself and provides a list of several vegan pantry staples to help welcome and transition into the vegan lifestyle! Amazing read. 10/10.

I have an old copy of this book. We ...
I have an old copy of this book. We used several recipes from it as our kids were growing up. Now the kids use a few of the recipes and have their own copies of the book.

Absolutely a great book, and a great buy
Absolutely a great book, and a great buy! I had read several of the others books from this author, from the library, but this one is a real keeper. Our family loves the recipe for broccoly soup. Just that recipe makes the book worth buying, but you will find much more to like, great information and cooking tips, as well as nutritional guidance. Awesome book!

Let's live healthy
I have read other books on this subject. Took courage for Mr. Robbins to take a different road from what he grew up with. I have been making Oceon's bread resipe since receiving the book and it is fantastic!!!! Also like using maple syrup for a sweetener in place of sugar. We must get back to local, community sustainable food!!!!! I would highly recommend this book!
