Cabin Fever: Patient Zero

You'll Never Want to Leave the "Cabin" Again!
By far the most enjoyable Cabin Fever. The plot is actually well-written, smart and fast-moving. The fact that Sean Astin is the lead actor not only is surprising, but his acting makes the movie. "Patient Zero" takes its audience on a journey through a journey of twists and turns, explaining how this skin-melting disease ends up a franchise of multiple disgusting movies! HUGE PLOT TWIST at the end, but I am not going to ruin it for anyone. Rent this one - You will not be disappointed. Awesome special effects, decent acting, main plot is smart and sub-plots are okay.

Solid C+ but does catch your attention
I only give it a four star because there are not many decent horror flicks out there theses days and it was actually better than the first movie. Not a high budget Hollywood film but nice quality. Definitely not low budget either. Gory at times yes. Had some interesting scenes to keep you interested enough to watch. Beginning was terrible but it got better after the first ten minutes. Yes I rather enjoyed watching it. No I would not confidently recommend it to a movie aficionado because that would be embarrassing. However, to my group of horror movie friends it was a solid C+.

Best One the Far.
Great Gore Fest. The FX were awesome. Especially liked the cat fight. What a way to go. You'll have to watch it fo find out what I'm talking about. However, because that scene and others were just a tad unrealistic, I can't give it a full five stars. I thought it was definitely the best of the three Cabin Fever movies thus far.

Cabin Fever too much 80s and 90s throw back concepts
Cabin Fever: Patient Zero - is pretty good. I found the part of the movie with the typical immature twenty something year old youngsters annoying. It seems allot of Horror movies star a group of extremely absorbed party obsessed youths. This was the norm back in the eighties and nineties. I think its time to change the formula. The rest of the movie was great. I would like to also see horror movies have more scenes take place in more well let day time scenarios. They seem to make you believe that only bad things happen at night and all is peaches and cream during the day. What a load of nonsense. Nasty horrid scenes don't think of concepts like "oh my its one in the afternoon all should be well. " I find sadly this movie seems to be clinging to these tiresome concepts. Why not hire main characters more in their 40s or 50s who are experienced and not so immature. If the script is written correctly and better actors hired I think the movie would be more realistic. Most teenagers and twenty years old's don't make enough money to be going on expensive luxury vacations. I think its time to put the Scooby Do Mystery Machine crowd to pasture.

Same Soup Just reheated and served with a side of Ebola
Taking advantage of the fearmongering involved with today's high traffic viruses like ebola and the D68 virus we find another installment to the Cabin Fever vault. This one bringing the legacy of Cabin Fever full circle. The end is always beginning or is it vice versa? Anyways, I would be more impressed if I felt they didn't just recycle death plots from the prior films. A lit bit of innovation goes a long way and I felt this lacked innovation severely. It has potential and does bring about closure for the Cabin Fever series, but that is about all it did. It failed to bring something fresh and new and instead opted to repeat what lead to its' success prior, something that took away from the film.

Satisfyingly Gross
My wife and I really enjoyed this movie. I is highly graphic with a plethora of skin and flesh falling off peoples bones. I thought Sean Astin did a great job in his role. I would recommend this to fans of the first movie as well as anyone who likes a good gore fest.

Good prequel to the serie
Another good horrific movie. We finally see what started that terrible and incredibly infectious skin disease. Like the other two movies it's graphic and gore, be aware!

Cabin Fever 3: UK Blu
Unlike many reviewers before me, I actually like CF1 and 2, both in my opinion tapping into the black comedy splatterfest ethos of the likes of Braindead and others of that era (although I'm not elevating them to that kind of status), and perhaps Piranha if you're more familiar with this century's output. CF2 seems to be particularly maligned by a good portion of those that have seen it, so I thought I'd give this one a go considering it seems to split audiences in the same way. The plot doesn't need outlining in detail: a research facility on a remote island runs into problems containing the flesh-eating virus (of the earlier movies) that they're attempting to find a cure to. A bunch of dumb partying teens ('natch) go out to the island (i.e. they won't get a mobile signal) for a stag party only to find themselves dropping victim to the virus one by one (a development that some viewers may be thankful for...). Has potential perhaps. From the outset of putting the third outing into your disc tray it's fairly clear that the black comedy madness of the first two films has been almost entirely eschewed by virtual newbie film-makers Andrews and Wall in favour of what they probably believe is a grittier, nasty affair. My favourite character (the cop) is also lamentably absent. Sam the hobbit shows up to give it all a bit of credibility, but the teens themselves are unable to give this cash-in anything convincing, as they just appear to be aping the performances of every other dumb-teen actor that you've seen in horror films over the last twenty years or so (unless that's how all American teens naturally are, in which case I forgive them), and the script is just as clichéd (I'm trying to remember some examples but the experience is mercifully fading from my mind). There are some moments of hefty gore if that's what you're after but the few moments of injected humour fall flat, making this entry feel like it doesn't really belong as part of the series. What truly ruined CF3 for me, however, was the near relentless shaky-cam approach - seriously, this cameraman can barely keep the thing still, and regardless of what's happening on screen and whether it calls for a feeling of seasickness, the image will be waving around like a wet kipper. Watch this stuff on a projector or large screen like I do and the chances are you'll come out of this movie feeling nauseous for all the wrong reasons. I'm not sure why this habit with film-makers persists - shaky camerawork does not draw a viewer into the action (and in my case it actually draws me right out, because I'm too conscious of the camera frame itself). I think bad film-makers use this technique as a tool to cover up their ability to generate genuine tension by any skilful means. Hence what might have been a 2.5 star film on a generous day becomes in my eyes a 1.5 star film. The Blu-ray reminds me of the old days collecting films on tape - not because the image/sound is terrible (it isn’t) but rather there is nothing in way of bonus features on the disc. Zilch. Although you do get to select chapters. The 1.78:1 full HD image is very detailed although clearly shot digitally. Daylight scenes are reasonably nice, with perhaps an unrealistic edge to the colour. DTS-HD audio has some oomph as might be expected. If you must watch this, the Blu is the way to go and can be obtained incredibly cheaply anyway.

Nauseating teens
A group of thick boring teens spend first half of film slowly getting to a island . By that time I quit with boredom .

No subtitles on disc
There are no subtitles of any kind. There are no extras of any kind. You can not skip the trailers at the beginning of the movie in any way. Pretty bad release of a movie.

AVERAGE FILM
THIS FILM GIVES A LITTLE MORE INSIGHT AS WHERE THE PROBLEM FIRST STARTED. THO IT GIVES MORE INSIGHT I THINK IT'S ONLY AN AVERAGE FILM. THE FIRST TWO ARE BETTER IN MY OPINION BUT EVERY ONE TO THEIR OWN.
