Lessons from a long pastorate
This book exceeded my expectations. it is a fine handbook especially fornewly minted pastors, who often feel that seminary did not prepare themfor the realities of parish ministry. Fearon draws on his 42 year pastoratein one congregation, exploring the theological and pastoral impllicationsof such difficult subjects as--allowing the national flag a place inside the sanctuary--baptizing a dead babyand exposing his own decisions to scrutiny and analysis.Never self-promoting, Fearon writes in a concise, straightforward, and transparentlyhonest manner.

A thoughtful and helpful read
The book is a wonderful selection of pastoral encounters that no one prepares you for as you enter church ministry. Dana Fearon has given the reader lots to contemplate as they deal with real world ministry. A great book for new pastors and those going into new churches. It also offers all pastors a window into ongoing pastoral leadership.

This is a great book for pastors and teachers who are looking for comfort in the ministry. We all struggle and we can go through seasons of hurt and doubt. This book helps us understand that we are not alone in our struggle.
