VibramateSR-1 String Spoiler, Chrome

I have several guitars that have bigsby tremolos, and every single one of them has a string spoiler. It takes a good amount of hassle out of stringing a bigsby and string changes are a breeze with one of these. Usually you have to feed the string under a bar and on to a peg while maintaining tension, which gets more annoying as you go as you're left with less and less space to work with. The spoiler allows you to simply feed the strings in to its slots instead, and then it's stringing as usual, but with having avoided half the initial stress.

Great tool, did the trick and for the first time since I bought my Gretsch I was able to restring the guitar on the first try. This makes my guitar so much more playable.Note: I was unable to get the spoiler onto the Bigsby at first, the pegs wouldn't rotate down far enough for the spoiler to latch on. I emailed Vibramate and sent them some pictures of my guitar and they said that my model of Bigsby has had issues with their spoiler, they suggested I try using a hex to take the handle off of the Bigsby and then rotate the pegs down manually without the handle stopping the rotation. I removed the Bigsby handle, rotated the pegs down, attached the spoiler, reattached the handle, and then everything was working great :)

This makes it much easier to install strings with a Bigsby B50 on a Gretsch. I just ordered a second one for the second Gretch I have ordered. This and a Brick's Biggs Fix Tuning Stabilizer makes the odds a Bigsby will stay in tune much better.

It does what it advertises, but I wish it stayed attached to the bigsby better. When all of your strings are off the spoiler will also fall off. It doesn't affect its usefulness, it's just annoying. I'll probably throw a wire tie on there or something. All in all though, I would highly recommend d it.

I was looking forward to trying this out on my Bigsby'd Gretsch, but I couldn't get it installed over the roller pins even with the spring out and the bar resting on the metal frame of the Bigsby for maximum downward roller pin angle. Maybe this is really an issue of tolerance control with whoever makes the Bigsby's for Gretsch, but if that's the case the designers at Vibramate should have accounted for that variability potential in their design. Either way, I'm back to stringing up my Bigsby old school style.

I do not have steady hands at all. Shaky hands can make changing strings on a guitar with a Bigsby a super annoying project. Once you get the Spoiler installed that first time, all following string changes are a breeze. It has saved me a ton of frustration.

Do not even think about it, just order! It installs in seconds, and your life will be immeasurably better from that moment on. I guarantee it!

I guess the string spoiler works perfectly with some guitars but it didn't work well with mine! I have a Reverend Spacehawk with Bigsby, and after installing the string spoiler, the action and intonation changed, had to do several adjustments to my guitar and still felt like some strings were mute or buzzing! So I decided to go back with as it was before. The product is ok and a great idea but it just didn't work for my guitar!
