Can't say enough good things about this
My nephews LOVE this, and have for years now. They call it their monster manual and they quote it regularly. I got them other parts of the series which they like too, but this one was their main. It's like a monster manual without the stats and more flavor text. Boys love things like this.

A Stat-Less Monstrous Manual for the Kids
I have a seven-year-old nephew and I wanted to get him a neat book. I was curious about this book; I didn't want some huge, wordy thing that was part of some ridiculous series (*cough cough Young Jedi*). This is exactly right. It's got tons of full-color illustrations and a cute meta-story about young apprentice monster-hunters, and hits all the high notes for a monstrous manual. It doesn't have any D&D stats (though it does have average heights and weights and dietary needs and such) for the monsters, just a bunch of evocative descriptions. It's exactly what a monster book should be for a kid who doesn't know anything about gaming, and makes the perfect bedtime or naptime reader.Hopefully in a few years, with this book and maybe a companion book or two, he'll be interested and grown-up enough for me to run a quick dungeon delve or two. As a product to stoke the imagination this book is like catnip.

Good condition!
Beautiful! It brings back so much nostalgia and I didn't realize how much I missed this book! It was in good condition, I skimmed a few pages and they look fine. It came in wack package but that's alright, I love it and I give this a 5 star!

Basically perfect in every way
Honestly could not tell that it had been a used copy. No tears or even wearing on the spine, almost like I didn't never been read. Illustrations are beautiful The Lure inside is amazing and definitely good if you're one of those people that enjoys drawing monsters and needs references.

BUY,BUY,BUY
I taught my son how to read with this book and he just graduated boot camp and I was cleaning his room and I found it. He had kept this book for 18 years.

Nice evening read
I bought this book for my son, who is 4 years old. He doesn't know yet to read or to add so we hardly can play D&D toghether. Instead I read him every evening two or three monsters out of this book. He enjoys it very much and also loves the images. Not a book for grown-ups, to little information. More important, the monsters are straight out of D&D, do not expect something mythologic or real. But a nice, colorful, experience.

Monsters abound
I've always loved reading the monster manuals, I could never afford the real thing. This book is small dip into the monster pool it doesn't have the stats that the big books have. Though it has synopsis of each monster, with a profile and art.some of the monsters don't get illustrations.
