Like reading an heirloom scrapbook of recipes
It’s not a cut and dried, boring cookbook. If you are a visually driven person like me I think you’ll enjoy it. It’s really is like sitting down with Aunt Mary in her kitchen and going through a scrapbook of recipes she has compiled with pictures. I loved it.

Has an "old timeishness feeliny" to it
This book is just plain fun to read and look at the pictures. Pictures are very vivid and the recipes are simple. Depending on age of reader and background (rural versus urban), it may bring back memories of a day long gone!

Outstanding recipe book. Every single recipe is excellent and turns out like old fashioned comfort food that I grew up with. There are recipes in here I could not find anywhere in my other cook books. My adult children were amazed by the book so I bought my son one and he is cooking up a storm and loving it. My daughter wants one too. There are only a few of the recipes that may be hard for a novice cook to figure out as the lack of step-by-step instructions on some of the recipes are not defined but for older well established cooks in the kitchen every bit of the book is a gem.

Photos for the food jump off the page...love it!
I found the first copy of this book in a store up in the Blue Ridge Mountains. I loved it and got it for my Mother. The photos of the food jumps off the page at you; I love the format; and the recipes are plain down home country cooking. I took this copy to work with me and showed it to a couple of co-workers and they also loved the book and ask me to see if I could order them a copy. I found it cheaper on Amazon and ordered for both and received them fast. We all like this book so much and I even ordered an extra copy to give as a retirement gift to my boss that is retiring in February.

Wonderful Old Time Cookbook
I purchased this cookbook for a friend, but when it came and I started looking at the pictures, reading the recipes and cute little sayings written on the pages - Okay, I kept it for myself. But I ordered two more just like it to give to my friend and I'm sure I'll find someone else togift the other cookbook to. I am so glad I found this wonderful cookbook and I will share itwith others. The pictures of the food and recipes are excellent, you can just taste the foodas you look at the picture and read the recipes. Such a wide variety of recipes too.I would rate 'The Old Farmhouse Kitchen' cookbook higher if I could, I really love it.

Pretty book & nostalgic.
Bought this for my sister & husband who are retiring from Chicago to a small farm in Michigan. He wants to "get back to the land" and to cooking at home from scratch. There are a few recipes in here that call for processed stuff like Velveeta, which doesn't seem to fit the theme of the book, but he seemed to like it when he browsed thru it.

A wonderful treasure for the kitchen
My mother in law gave me this cook book and I use it often. I'm slowly working my way through trying every single one. I love that the portions are enough to make for my family of 7, most times I have to double or triple recipes. Everything we've tried has been a hit--no low fat/tasteless stuff here!
