Stygian's Honor - You have to read this to understand whats coming next!
I love the Breed series, and how all the intricate and what would seem annoying details in another book make this series a must read for me. I know some of you won't like this book because it will seem that the story isn't clear, and if that's the case you need to go back and read the previous two books for it to make sense. The story is actually quite enthralling. For a book to go into such detail, and spread out among several characters and how they interact in these last three books is amazing. Not many authors can make that happen. For those of you who are just now looking to read a book in the Breeds series don't start here, go back a few books if not to the first one as they all interconnect in a way that seems impossible but you won't regret it.The other bonuses of reading a Lora Leigh book are as always the hot intense and passionate love scenes. They are not the "wham-bam-thank you-mam" scenes. Her writing makes what is impossible seem like you could run down to the local bar and pick up a man with the same traits for your self! If that was possible please sign me up for any of the Breeds! This story is a continuance of Wyatt looking for 2 missing girls the genetics council experimented on to try and save his own daughters life. The realization of finding those girls and how they came to be hidden in Navajo country is amazing and you can't put the book down. I can't wait for the next two books which will surly give you more answers to the questions this book brought up and of course the need for many frozen drinks to cool you down after reading the many sex scenes! So grab this book and have fun!

Somewhere between 3 & 4 Stars...
I vacillated between rounding up or down, but decided on 4 stars because this story had some solid elements that show some future promise. (fingers crossed)SPOILERS aheadSynopsis:This story continues the plot arc that has taken up the last several (frankly too many) Breeds books. Jonas' adoptive daughter Amber was injected with a mysterious serum that is changing her and beginning to threaten her life. Jonas is convinced - for good reason - that the key to saving her is tied to a secret Bradenmore Pharmaceuticals lab in which the serum was created and a whole host of other horrible experiments were conducted on Breeds (and humans, in some cases). Further, that four fugitives from that lab - humans Honor and Fawn, and Breeds Judd and Gideon - are the combined font of all key information and insights that will help save Amber. In a frankly heavy-handed manner, it has been hinted in the last few stories that Liza (the heroine in this book) and her friend Claire are in fact Honor and Fawn respectively. But how can that be? They are the known daughters of a Navajo tribal elder and his head of security! Their DNA seems to back that up But a good part of this book endeavors to explain that with a degree of success that is impeded by certain issues that will be covered below. There are so many competing interests and loyalties and swirling secrets - and amidst all this, Stygian and Liza are mated and he must put her first, even if her needs seem contra to those of Jonas, Amber etc. All the while, Liza is increasingly wrestling with the "truth" that is bubbling up inside regarding who she is, or is not.Is she Honor? Is Claire actually Fawn? How did they seem to truly become Liza and Claire? Where is Judd... and why is Jonas so sure that he knows exactly how to not just stop Gideon (who is not as present in this book as he was in Lawe's Justice) but to actually SAVE him? By the end, we have at least partial answers to all of these items - and there is true promise for the next book if these are handled well. The Good:It finally felt like the overall arc of this story progressed - and one can hope that we will see it come to a conclusion in the next! I liked Stygian and Liza, and liked them as a pair in an overall sense. Also, we gained further insight into Jonas, how much Amber means to him - and that notwithstanding his pledge to do anything necessary to save her, he nonetheless let nature take its course rather than force things to a head in ways that could have truly hurt Liza. I liked that, as it added some dimension to the ultra-manipulative nature that is so much of who he is.It was good to see some of the old characters - and I was intrigued by what Dog is up to. Who WAS he meeting with in the desert?I really liked the ground laid for the Fawn/Gideon story. Their back story and Jonas' plans for them have real promise. The Bad:This story and its execution were still bogged down by the ongoing issues that have plagued Lora's books the last few years. Some things have improved - there aren't as many editing problems, for example. However, there IS a major timeline challenge because Amber seems to have aged significantly since the last book, though this one is supposed to take place immediately following. There is also far too much repetition - of plot elements that are beaten to death, variations on the same conversations ad nauseum, and the depiction of the sex scenes. Particularly with the latter, Lora could carve out paragraphs (save some of the similar verbiage for future stories), and improve the flow of the scenes and the story.Because there were so many similar scenes where Liza, her parents, and others were talking around the same suspicions and secrets over and over and over - there was essentially no surprise left when the truth was finally revealed. All suspense was virtually gone. And, really, the name of the book telegraphs the whole thing, doesn't it? Maybe the "how" took a bit of explanation, but not the "who".Some of the pages and pages taken up with duplicate scenes and conversations could instead be used to show the development of the ROMANCE between Stygian and Liza - even small moments that show there is emotion between them.Which brings me to a major issue I had with this (and other Breed) stories - enough with the histrionics on the part of the heroines. Yes, I am sure it is crazy when your hormones go wacko and you can't fight what is the inevitable but at least somewhat scary outcome - an irrevocable bond for life with a man you may barely know. But Liza was borderline ridiculous when she was taking such melodramatic issue with the efforts of Stygian and others to keep her safe. Then again, if before telling each couple's story Lora spent more time in prior books at least enabling the development of SOME relationship, maybe the heroines would be more positively disposed to mating at the outset. Seriously, lather, rinse, repeat is how I feel now about the same battles being fought between the heroes and heroines.Going forward:These are all just my opinions, but what I would love Lora to do next...Tell the Gideon/Fawn story (and please, watch your editing, timelines, repetition, etc.) - and finish the arc about Amber and the serum in that book. Then go back and tell the stories for some of the core characters - Cassie, Dane, Dog. That doesn't have to mean the end of the series. During those books you can introduce us in greater depth to some new (or currently peripheral) characters, so we can get to know and care about them. So maybe we can see the beginnings of the relationships that will be featured in future books as mated pairs. It is time for some real pay-offs for the long-time readers of the series. It is time for some true plot advancement.

What the heck?
I really don't get all the bad reviews on this book. The story line dosn't have the whole, oh woe is me, the mating heat won't kick in cuz the breed is suppressing his animal side thing that other books had. Sure, Amber's problem has been draged out and needs to be resolved, but the way this book ends seems to indicate the next book will resolve it. It also seems to indicate that Gideon and Fawn will be the focus of that book. Yeah, there is a lot of sex with the mating heat, but thats true of almost all the Breed books. I really enjoyed this book, but after reading all the bad reviews it sat on my Kindle for awhile before I read it. I'm glad I finally did and I heartily recommend this book to true Breed fans. Enjoy!

A fatal crash in the desert. Four women's fate was sealed.
Stygian was a lone wolf. He didn't want a mate or the complications of it. A chance sighting changed that one night at a bar. Liza was there when Malachi met with his future mate. His mate was of Navajo origin. What twists of fate had in store for him.

Another Great Breed Novel
Stygian's Honor is about Liza Johnson who is a member of the Navajo's Underground Network. She meets Stygian Black, a Wolf Breed, who works for the Bureau of Breed Affairs. Stygian is searching for Honor Roberts, whom he believes holds the secrets that his leader Jonas needs to save his daughter Amber from an illness that is killing her. There is an instant attraction between Liza and Stygian. Liza fights the growing knowledge that she is his mate and the feeling there is a secret inside her that seems just out of her reach. They both search to find the answers they need. This is another great Breed novel. It has a strong story, plenty of action, sexual tension and hot love scenes. I recommend this novel and all the other Breed novels. You will be highly entertained.

Love Lora Leigh
I really enjoyed this book, it was romantic without being sickly and the characters are just lovely. I read all 27 books in the Breeds series one after the other and I'm totally addicted to them all, some I've read twice. Thoroughly recommend this book.

Lora Leigh is back
Have always loved the breed books but didn't buy the last couple as I ignored the reviews and started to read one that had bad reviews and it was terrible, but, the reviews were so good on this one decided to try again, I'm so pleased I did, it was exciting, emotional and hot , everything I've come to know lora Leigh is renowned for, if you had also lost a little faith read this and it will be restored. I look forward to the next in the series.

Good, but...
This is the first story, that was not so fascinating like the ones before. The whole story was avoiding the main subject and the love story was more a background story, than the annoying story about Jonas and baby Amber.I just hope the next book or story will show more suspense again. Otherwise Lora Leigh is a good writer and I like her books, something for the couch and a big mug of hot chocolate!
