There is a different type of lamp (not this kind) that is used for psoriasis treatment and that doesn't block UV light so that can do the same kind of damage as the sun can. There is a possibility that if you stare at this light for long periods of time it could cause eye damage, but in the product instructions it tells you not to stare at it (although glances are fine). My doctor recommended it to help with seasonal depression. I sit in front of it for about 30 minutes daily. It definitely lifts my mood.
