It's not at all what they say it is.
I have had MonoSodium Glutamate (MSG) before in other food products here in the USA before, most notably it's used in the Chips/snacks industry especially doritos and pringles. I remember back in the late 90's early 00's that people were freaking out about MSG and how it gave you headaches and other bad side effects and that is where there term "Chinese Food Headache" came from, because people thought that that was were the MSG must have come from but actually it wasn't. Oddly enough MSG is more of a edamame flavor on the tongue by itself. There is hardly any saltiness to it since it has Sodium in its name, but it's more of a "Flavor enhancer" more than it is a salt. And just like EVERYTHING we eat and drink when used properly and not OVERUSED, it's just fine to use with meals of all kinds. SO this VERY large package of MSG should last a VERY long time when used sparingly. I've added it to all kinds of dishes lately and the foods flavor seems to be more....stronger?? I'm not sure but it seems to make flavors POP! and I like it.

Great price.
This is MSG. This big bottle costs the same as a tiny bottle of Accent in the grocery store.

Good seasoning.
If you don’t have msg in your spice cabinet then you should order it! ASAP!

Good for cooking, not for seasoning
These MSG crystals are fairly large - in the >1mm range - so they don't really dissolve well on cooked food. Great for cooking, and probably okay in hot soups/stews/sauces too, but if you want to use it like salt, then you are better off going with Accent or something similar, MSG in fine powdered form. This stuff is okay in limited amounts, but treat it like salt or oil, use in moderation.

Great quality, taste and enough to last a family for years
Don't be fooled by all the "no MSG" advertising you see everywhere nowadays. MSG is NOT bad for you! It can be extracted from seaweed and many other natural, organic sources. Monosodium glutamate, in fact, is one of the most abundant naturally occurring non-essential amino acids. This bottle of MSG is enough to last a family household for YEARS. You only need a tiny bit to really make a dish taste magical. I use it for soups, grilling, stir fries, and so so much more. Whenever I have friends over who have never seen raw MSG, I let them taste a tiny pinch. If you've heard of the fifth flavor sense, umami, but don't know how to explain it, the sensation of tasting raw MSG can explain it all. Of course, like anything, too much of anything is bad for you. In the case of MSG, adding too much will make your dish not incredibly appetizing and you will be very very thirsty afterwards. When cooking with this, I highly suggest adding it in tiny increments and tasting between each addition.

I use this in most of my cooking to enhance flavor
I love this stuff! It’s much cheaper than accent and it’s all the same stuff. This adds so much flavor to my dishes and getting this size for the price makes it last a long time. I buy one of these each year and it lasts! Don’t be scared of using msg unless you have someone who has been very clear about being allergic to it, otherwise it is safe to use.

Many foods used to taste better before an unfounded anti-MSG hysteria took place in America ...
Many foods used to taste better before an unfounded anti-MSG hysteria took place in America decades ago. Arguably, Chinese food took the most obvious hit. This is the anti-dote. Use liberally and enjoy an extra savory sensation in what you cook at home, or stir it in to your Chinese takeout for amazing old-school flavor. Low sodium diet due to high blood pressure? You absolutely need MSG in your arsenal. Just a touch of salt plus non-water-retaining MSG makes everything good again. This particular item is a good deal for quantity, but it doesn't have a sprinkle lid so you'll have to use a teaspoon or transfer it into a shake container.

Completely fine
My product arrived in a very timely manner. The freshness seal pulled up with the lid, but there was a fully intact outer plastic tamper proof seal, so nothing has been compromised. The texture is as fine as table salt and it delivers a great umami punch, without being salty.

I like MSG
I dont care what anybody says, msg just makes everything taste better than salt. I use it in everything. A bit pricy but well worth the flavor. And never any headaches or stomach issues which I suspect are mostly psychosomatic due to bad publicity in the past. Noone has ever complained about my cooking yet.
