Well made beautiful and functional

I purchased a white basket for my Day 6 semi-recumbent bicycle. I have the coolest bike EVER. The only negative is that people stop and stare and ask me where I got my bike interrupting my ride. The basket is great for carrying small items such as a cell phone, a sweater or small jacket, etc... Even my riding buddy asks if she can put her sweater in too when she gets a little warm - plenty of room. I use it for picking up fresh baked bread to take home after my ride. Love it!!!!The basket has two leather straps that buckle. This is perfect for my bike. I strap it onto the lower part of the handlebar and it hangs just above the front wheel (be sure to measure the distance from your handlebar to the top of the wheel). It is sturdy and does not bounce around (which was an initial concern). I am not worried that it will come loose and fall off. The straps are well made and should last for years to come. The only negative, if it is a concern to you, is that anyone could simply unbuckle it and take off with it if left unprotected; but there's not anything that can stop a determined thief. They would probably take the whole bike if it is not cable locked. Sad that we have to think about this!!!!!Lastly, I like the front basket much better than adding all of the additional equipment for a basket in the back. The savings and the way the basket looks is ideal for me. No fenders were added nor any additional hardware.

I am experimenting with urban living without a car, so I bicycle the mile over flat terrain to the grocery store, and bought two of these to hang on either side of a back bike rack. They are strong, and durable, as are their straps (important!!) and carry a lot, and when it is too cold or snowy or raining, or if I am too tired to go out, that is okay because my house is full of provisions -- because of these baskets! thank you!!And of course, I used to love renting bikes with these baskets on Nantucket when I was a kid!Update: Two years later, January 11, 2016, and my left-side basket ripped off without anything in it. Just happened when my foot hit it. Yesterday, though, I carried about 8 lbs in it, and it seemed fine. I weighed some of my groceries today, and see that I MAY have been slightly overloading this basket, carrying maybe 15 lbs on occasion, though I have only used it about 17 times.Both of the baskets I got from Amazon warehouse, at great discount, and they were visibly mashed, but I thought it would be okay. So, conceivably, the fault today was NOT the fault of the basket manufacturer, per se, so I kept my rating at five stars.Bottomline, DO NOT overload these baskets. When they say 13 lbs weight load capacity, I think they mean it. I Just clicked "order" a new one from Amazon warehouse, and am going to make an effort to stay below 10 lbs per basket from now on.

I just wanted a small basket for my bike, just big enough for my phone and camera. I thought this one was smaller than the others because I misread the dimensions. I was going to return it. I kept telling myself to return it. It's just too expensive for something I can't even use. It doesn't fit my bike. The straps are too far apart for my Townie. And even if it did fit, it's just way too nice to be strapped to a bicycle. So why didn't I return it? Just out of curiosity, I put some flowers in it. It looked really pretty, so I placed it on top of a large chest in the corner of my bedroom. Well, I shouldn't have done that because now I can't bring myself to return it! Normally I would not pay $45 for a decorative basket. I already have too many of those. But it looks amazing! In dim light, it glows. In bright light, it sparkles. Short story long - this is a beautiful, high quality 5 star basket.
