POOR KINDLE QUALITY, but GREAT BOOK
Fantastic book. I bought a used copy a year ago and the binding fell apart. Not a big deal; I just had it spiral bound. Today I noticed it was FINALLY available for Kindle, so I got it immediately. The text is pretty low quality, even to the point that it is difficult to read. I hope they fix this soon. The content of the book is first rate though. Defeinitely a must read for anyone looking to start a volunteer ministry or organization, and/or needs to find ways to better organize the team they already have. EVERY pastor should ready this book. Most of it is seemingly basic and obvious at the surface level, but oftentimes the fundamentals are the most important part of organization.

Absolutely worth having in your home library!
Don't be put off by the publishing date on this book. It's full of incredibly great insight and useful information. A friend (who is a very successful executive) lent me her copy, which had highlighted passages on nearly every page and was falling apart from frequent usage. I was so impressed that I bought my own copy. I don't normally buy books that I can borrow/check out, read and return...but this one is worth owning.

Very useful
Marlene Wilson, who has been a volunteer coordinator in a large non-profit, gives lots of practical advice on recruiting, training, evaluating and rewarding church volunteers. One key idea is finding what people want to do and placing them appropriately instead of trying to cajole someone into taking the position you need to fill at the moment. Suggestions, questionnaires, etc. all very helpful.

Amazing book!
I bought six or seven books about volunteers and stewardship. All were good and each has its strengths and weaknesses ... at least for my purposes. Marlene Wilson's book is truly terrific. It that has so much working, practical information compared to the others. This is the book I come back to the most.

Great Book - Well Worth the Read
I purchased a number of books on recruiting and managing volunteers, both in religious and secular sectors. I actually left this one for last, to be honest, because the book looked so old and uninviting. It was written in the 80s and I was looking for something that I thought would be more contemporary. I found the book to deal with exactly the same issues that I see in the church today and was surprised at how helpful this text has been to me. (I know, I know, 20 years is not too long ago and these issues are timeless in a sense...guess I'm a sucker for marketing)The quick summary is that out of all the books I've read on the subject, I'd put this one at the top of my list. Five stars.
