Good quality Chuck!!
Purchased this being a little skepticle because of price and wondered about quality. Not any issue so far. I went from my smallest bit to my biggest and every thing was true and no issues whatsoever. No issues tightening. Now I donโt do machinist work so donโt know if it has any off runout but I drilled 16 holes 9/16โ in 1/2โ tool steel in a jig and every one was right on the money. Well pleased!!

I never checked the runout.
Very nicely manufactured.

It is great for what it is.
What this is; A solid - inexpensive, bang around, reasonably accurate chuck for general utility use. For $35-$40 you will absolutely get your money's worth. What this is not; In any way a comparison to a genuine $600-$900 Jacobs or Superchuck. A tool you should ever expect to do mill spec work with. I expect most buying this here, expect to bore holes in lumber or mild steel ect, without any need for or means to measure extreme levels of accuracy. If it's a buttery smooth feeling, accurate to within .00001 chuck, I doubt you would ever be looking to Amazon to suit those needs anyway. I doubt any two of these chucks would have the exact same runout, or QC, and sure, it doesn't feel like a Superchuck, but, I can tell just from running a high quality brad point bit in the one I received, it is adequate for my intended purpose of this chuck. I'd suggest even if you do happen to receive a faulty one, it's likely a random QC issue and it'd probably be worth giving them another chance to replace it. I doubt finding as decent a new chuck for so little $ elsewhere. Cheers

Worked great on my old Harbor Freight drill press.

Smooth operation
Have used the chuck on a drill press for several months. This chuck is being used on a small farm. I think the chuck has smoother action than others I have used in this price class. I think this is good value and is better than the original chuck that came with the drill press I use. You will need to freeze the tapered shaft (shank) and warm the chuck then assemble with pressure. I did this and have not had any problems with the chuck slipping on the shank. The largest hole I have drilled is 3/4" in mild steel.

Accurate to +/- 0.003"
I received this drill chuck and installed in my old and crusty, craigslist purchased Delta 17-900 Drill press that I'm casually replacing parts on it as I see fit. The old chuck was in need of replacement because the gears to tighten it are basically to worn to tighten bits. Removal and installation was pretty easy with a wooden mallet and some scrap wood. Once installed I used a stationary run-out gauge to check run out. Two Full rotations yielded the same results. At most I was -.002" and +.001", which is plenty accurate for my woodworking requirements and more so for a sub $40 drill press chuck. The inaccuracy could very well be the age and wear of my press and spindle. I'll update as it gets more use, but so far I'm happy with the purchase.

the size and taper of the shaft.
It works great, and the fit was perfect. I like the size of the chuck. the 5/8 capacity can be used for alot of different things. I was so tired of the constant wobble of the old one. could not drill a straight hole, or even the correct size. This corrected every thing. Love it, and the price was great.

Great Chuck
I was worried about receiving a cheaply manufactured chuck as it is hard to tell the difference among chucks with the on-line descriptions. I was pleasantly surprised about how well the chuck was made, finished and operated. I use it to hold boring bits and I use it on my tail stock of my wood lathe. If anyone is looking for a nice well made 5/8" chuck, I highly recommend this unit.
