really works - especially is small spaces
Although I've used this product for small rooms, for this item I used it in a cabinet in my basement. I do not have a dehumidifier - although I probably should. But I noticed that some of the pots that I had stored in this cabinet were getting surface rust. I put this little bucket in there and in no time, it absorbed the moisture. Much drier - but yes, a dehumidifier would take care of the whole area - but this was perfect for just the cabinet. I was happy to see the unscented version available. Although I don't mind the scented one, it can be a bit overpowering in small areas. When I used the scented one in a room, it wasn't too bad, but I do prefer the unscented version.

These are nice!
I keep one in my car and it doesn't do much for moisture... although it may be because it's in an older car... I think it does at least a little, but my windows still get foggy and stuff. I do think these are better at scent removal then moisture reduction though. My car is always fresher than most places.

Great in the wet trunk
My trunk got wet at a scout campout when the water jug broke at the spigot and emptied 2 gallons on H2O all over my Odyssey's trunk! This was recommended and worked!PROS:- Helped remove excess moisture after shop vaccing the trunk upholstery- Pleasant scent (and I am not one for overpowering scents...this was nice)- Nice price point / value for $$CONS:- Not a con yet but could be - hoping for -0- noticeable mold growth so time will tell if this helped with that

Really helped, but…update
My air conditioner decided to start spewing mildew scented air this summer and no matter how I tried to clean it, it kept happening. Couldn’t find anything to help and then decided to try this damp rid product because it has the added charcoal feature. I can’t have anything scented around me as I’m very sensitive to it (scentsitive?) lol) because I have asthma and charcoal is usually a good absorber of smells. I put this in front of the air conditioner and within 24 hours, the room smelled so much better, much fresher and my asthma has been much better in this particular room since I got this. Coincidence maybe but if it keeps me from using my inhaler constantly, I’m for it!Updating: I had planned to continue to use this year round and may still consider it as I felt it helped. However what others have said are true. It leaks. It’s like the stuff eats through the plastic tub after a while and the liquid goes everywhere. As a precaution after reading reviews, I had kept the plastic wrapping (with the logo and directions, etc) on it as extra protection in case of a leak. Thought that would be enough and it seemed to be ok.When I went to move the damp rid to check to see if it was time to change it, I hadn’t realized that it not only leaked out, but was starting to seep through our hardwood floors. Apparently it had been leaking for some time and the chemicals made it very hard to clean up. It doesn’t absorb into paper towels or anything so I had to use two gift cards to scoop it all up. Thankfully I caught it before it did any major damage to our floors (and being in an apartment we would have paid dearly for by management) but if I hadn’t caught it it, it definitely would have been an issue.I’d still very much like to use this product as it did help the issues I mentioned earlier but will have to figure out a way to keep the leaking at bay.

Works great to control moisture
Family's been using this for years to control moisture in the air and it works great. It doesn't eliminate moisture.Be aware product could come damaged. Most damage is minor so it can still be used to its full extent. Most damage I've seen is the blue lid broken and silver seal slightly off. The base and fabric that hold the beads and reservoir have always been intact. When removing the seal only remove the silver, leaving the white fabric part behind.Do not try to use if base is broken/cracked or beads are exposed, try to get an exchange immediately.
