**Q: What are the full open (usable) dimension of the gear wrench?**
A: it says 2 and 1/8th inch in the ad for it

**Q: Any idea if this will work on a 2001 corolla?The ball joint is right next to the cv boot and i want to not damage it.**
A: Had similar issue on 2003 corolla, leave nut flushed on bolt for stability, spray silicone on separator to lubricate and slide between nut and boot, if all fails, disconnect the 2 nuts and 1 bolt for the ball joint base, remove knuckle and then use seprator.

**Q: Does anyone know the jaw size?**
A: The slot is 7/8" wide by 1-1/4" deep. Completely extended the "jaws" open to 2-1/4". I've used on VW beetles and other small cars with great success.

**Q: What size is the bolt on the tool?**
A: Sam, the size of the bolt on this tool is 15/16. It's a great tool and easy to use. Good luck.

I have a 1998 Toyota 4Runner that needs to have the lower ball joints replaced. Reading a "how to" thread on the 4Runner forum, I learned this tool makes the job super easy. So I thought I would give it a try. This is a very heavy duty tool. It appears very well built and forged. The size it big enough that it should provide plenty of leverage when popping out the ball joint. I saw some other reviews for this tool showing the tool was machined incorrectly and the arms did not line up. Mine were aligned perfectly. The dealer wanted $1000 to replace the lower ball joints. With this tool I will save $800 (the new ball joints were $180). I will update this review with new photos and my thoughts of how the job went.
