Stronger then you might think.
This is by far one of the best things I use to weed my garden and landscape border. No more will I stand with a traditional hoe, if possible, beating the ground to remove weeds and grass. This weeding Sickle removes weeds to the root with less effort and better results. One swipe with this tool will bring this review credit. Thats how much I believe in this product.

If sturdier, would be the best garden hand tool I've ever owned
This is an amazing tool, but the build quality is questionable.I love how it versatile it is, allowing reach well under garden plants to get at weeds. The sharp edge takes out most weeds while the pointed tip is great for digging at the more stubborn weed roots.HOWEVER...After about 10 days use, the sleeve that joins the shaft and handle came loose, creating some wiggle. To be fair, the seller offered a refund or replacement and I may yet send it back.HOWEVER AGAIN...I love this hand hoe so much that I'm going to see if it can be spot welded. If the welder says no... back she goes.

Very good
I already have had another version of this Japanese weeding tool for a couple of years, but it's shorter. I decided to try this one because I realize in some situations having the extra leverage and such would be useful. It is more heavy duty in person than what appears in the picture; the metal in-between the blade and wood handle has a good thickness and weight to it. I couldn't find much wrong with the tool and would say it's excellent value for the price. No complaints about the wood handle, seems significant and feels good in the hand. A lot of the steel has a coating on it to prevent rust, but keep in mind the blade is not stainless, so don't let it stay wet for too long or rust will appear.Overall this is great value and an extremely handy tool for gardening.

A must have!
This is a pretty essential tool, and you'll quickly see how much better it is for many tasks than even a very good garden knife, weeding claw, etc.The only thing I've had an issue with is the blade dulling after just a few uses. It arrives very sharp, make no mistake, and show proper reverence for the blade. I'm not banging it on rocks or anything, it just appears to dull if you use it above the soil. It's the right tool -- finally -- for really reaching underneath the very bottom of stubborn roots you're removing. I notice I bring it out almost every single time I'm working, even without thinking about it.A longer version would be excellent for mixing and overturning soil to amend it, and to grab starter weeds without getting on the ground.A thicker cover for the blade would be an excellent addition, something that can quickly be slipped on when you set it down. You need to stay very aware of where this tool and what angles are pointed up or out while you're working. One area where it really excels, of many, is in the ability to reach weeds that come up between bulbs. The sharp tip can be used very precisely to get at tiny roots where a blade is just too wide and dull.

Sharp and easy to use
This is just the right size for me to be able to sit on my little stool and weed all around it. The sickle arrived sharp and ready to do damage to the crapgrass and tackweed that was encroaching on my garden beds. It did not take any effort at all to remove 2-3 day old weeds, and even the well established ones were easy to cut through with just a little more effort. Great product!

Slice Slice Baby
Is it sharp? You bet your bottom dollar it is. I've been absolutely impressed using this weeding tool. The rate of removal of the weeds in the garden is incredible. Slices weeds just below the surface. I keep the edge razor sharp using whetstones that I have for my kitchen knives. The long handle allows you to reach areas that may otherwise be out of reach. Combining this with a loop push/pull hoe allows me to maintain a groomed garden. Well worth the investment. If only they were to make one with a large head like a garden hoe with a long handle so you could do serious weed removal while standing or remove underbrush...just a thought.

Impressed, so far.
My yard consists of crushed rock over nearly rock-hard sand/clay soil. But weeds still manage to grow there, and some of them manage to anchor themselves really deeply and solidly. The Tomerry Weeding Sickle arrived sharp enough to slice the box it was shipped in. I don't know if it was sharp enough to cut a flexible plant or how long it will retain an edge in the conditions I'm exposing it to, but I'm not too concerned about that because the rocks make cutting the roots pretty much impossible anyway. But it does work quite well at digging them out and the handle length is a great help. It's pointy enough to penetrate more easily than any other tools I've tried, and sturdy enough to allow me to draw it through the rocks and soil to pull the weeds out. That's pretty much all I was hoping for.I'm holding back one star because there was one tough root that was not protected by rocks and I was hoping the tool would cut it, but it could not.

The long handle makes all the difference!
If you are a gardener and haven't purchased one of these yet, you're missing out!I chose this particular one because it has a longer handle than most others. I really like it. Since the handle is longer, I don't need to bend as far-which saves my back. It's also sturdy and performs very well. I am pleased with my purchase.
