My new Firestick is a great upgrade from my Roku. Your family gets so much more from the firestick!!
Well I got my refurbished version but it looks and came packaged like brand new. Not a scratch on it. Very easy to set up! Plug it in, choose your hdmi input, put in your email BOOM - you there. Less than 5 mins! I’m still exploring all the different channels, apps, features. I like how at the bottom of the screen there’s tips for using Alexa. Which is great so far. I can find out the weather ask Alyssa go to certain channel ask Alexa to look at gifts for teenage boys asked Alexa for a recipe, Ask Alexa to go to silk Internet browser, ask Alexa to set a timer or play today’s hits music. Alexa voice recognition is definitely worth the $10 extra!! I did not know you could also shop Amazon and other apps and browse the internet with the fire stick! So that was nice surprise. My new Samsung tv and fire stick in the living room replaced my Roku TV, which I put in my sons room. I have to admit the Roku Tv is great being that it is affordable too but In comparison to the fire stick hands down Fire stick is a real upgrade! The user interface is clean. I had no issues with volume control, just hit accept terms and volume keys worked automatic. There’s more activities. Like a variety of games for the whole family can play! That was also another nice surprise. Honestly so far I’m really pleased with my purchase of the Fire stick. Thanks Amazon

Works like a charm!
Tl;dr - Very pleased. My original fire stick was connected to an old wifi that no longer exists and the remote was broken a ways back. I chatted up CS to see what I could try in order to be able to use my fire stick. I had tried borrowing a remote, my app remote capabilities, researching, and youtube but still had no luck. The CSR, I think her name was Rachel, after patiently going through different steps to try and resolve the issue, she suggested purchasing a new remote. I responded truthfully that I would love to do that but I have been waiting to be approved for disability for my rare lung/muscle disease and my resources were tapped out. She so kindly offered for a $15 credit to use toward the purchase of one! I was so touched. I then purchased this item not even realizing that it was a fire stick AND remote, and I am beyond happy with it because I didn't even have to deal with the old one and trying to sync it up to a fire stick that had no internet connection (which is possible I think but not in my case since it was older I suppose). Long story, but as someone who doesn't even use amazon that much I appreciated this experience so much. <3

Working great, thought remote didn't work
Was a little iffy to buy a refurbished one since this was my first fire stick I've purchased. I just set it up & everything is working great. Only giving 4 stars because when I first unboxed & set everything up I could not for the life of me get the remote to turn on. I honestly thought I was going to have to return it for the remote not working. After searching through Google for about 20 minutes I found an article saying once you put the batteries in hold down the home button. Held it down for about 30 seconds & it finally worked. So, so far so good. Will update if anything goes wrong.

Much better than I even hoped for.
I purchased one in anticipation of cutting cable costs. I have four not smart TVs in the house and one smart TV. I had Blu Ray players on three TVs to get Netflix. One of the Blu Ray players no longer supports the Netflix app so I was already forced to make a change. I was torn between Roku and Fire but realized I have no relationship with Roku and am a big user of Amazon and Prime. I could not be happier. The first one was so easy to load up with apps and access Prime AND Netflix that I went ahead and ordered two more. I plan to get another one for the last stupid TV. I noticed that the Fire stick turns on and off the newer of the dumb TVs but one of them stubbornly refuses to do so. That's not a big deal since I need the original TV remote to change the input anyway after turning on the TV. I was so pleased I added Disney which has user profiles like Netflix. It was all so very easy to use. I highly recommend this product to anyone wanting a consistent path to streaming services using one each on multiple TVs. It's also easier for the older users in the house to not have to learn five different remotes.

Takes more than just plugging it in...you'll be needing a wifi booster....
You might be needing a few extras to make this thing work...A wifi booster to start with...We live in a condo, our router is on the first floor and the firestick won't pickup the signal from our lower level so we've been sorting through wifi boosters to try and find the right one. If we had known this was going to be a problem we would have ordered a wifi booster when we ordered the Fire stick in the beginning. We've had ours for 5-weeks now and everytime we watch a movie it takes about 10 to 15-minutes longer to watch because the fire stick drops the wifi signal....and increasing your wifi speed won't solve the problem...Don't waste your time on a cheap (Booster) . We called our internet/cable company (WOW) and had an upgraded WIFI system installed..and now the firestick works excellently, nice system...no more drop-outs...
