Quick customer service, but a little too zealous
I wanted to like this item so badly! I really, really did. At the price it was being offered vs. the price that Samsung offers theirs, (a $25 difference at the time I posted this review) this seemed like a great deal especially since we have a large family that has 5 phones- that all upgraded at once. Once we each got our own cases that we had chosen placed upon our phones, we tried this charger. It works- but only if the Samsung phone is placed very, very specifically upon the charger, and that is even haphazard at best. To compare, I went ahead and purchased the Samsung charger and tested these two side by side. No matter how I placed my phone, in its case, on the Samsung charger, it would charge. With the Yootech, if I even bump my desk, the phone stops charging. I am really disappointed.Update to my original post:Ok, so the company saw this review and contacted me and told me that they were sorry the item didn't work and that this happens occasionally. They gave me a full refund. This was wonderful. However, when I got up this morning, there were 20 (20!) identical emails requesting that I remove my original review. I felt a bit hunted and badgered. This was excessive and not appreciated. i have changed the rating from 2 stars to 3 simply because they were on the ball and refunded my money so quickly. If they had not sent me so many requests to remove my negative review, I would have bumped it up higher, because I greatly value customer service.

I purchased this product based on its reviews but now I am wondering if they just reviews from the manufacturer's friends as it is hard to believe so many personnel have had success with it. I got it to use in combination with a Qi receiver I had to use with my Samsung galaxy s4. Immediately after placing my phone on the unit it was not recognized and was not charging. Then I slowly moved my phone around the unit until it finally found the "sweet spot" and made contact with the Qi chip and even then the connection didn't remain constant and my phone kept making noise like it sensed a wireless charger then not, then did, then not over and over again. At this time I knew it was going back but I also wanted to test the fact that many reviews said it worked through an Otter Box phone case. It did not so do not get this thinking you can charge through an Otter Box case. I sent the product back and immediately went to Best Buy and got the Tzumi - HyperCharge wireless charging pad and it works flawlessly even with the Otter Box case on. There is also no "sweet spot" you have to hit with your phones Qi device as the whole pad is a sensor.

Meh. (Updated to "bleh")
Holy macaroni is this thing frustrating! It's so darn temperamental. I wish Samsung would write some code that pops up when the phone is placed on the charger that directs you how to move the phone so it's properly positioned. If the phone doesn't line up with the charger very well, the phone beeps (beep! beep! beep!) over and over until you fix it which I would expect. However, if it's just slightly off-point, the phone makes a single beep as though it's reconnecting and then beeps again about 30-60 seconds later...and again...and again. I have to move the phone in millimeter increments to get it just right. That gets extremely frustrating if all I should have to do is lay it down on the charger. I have it at work and I actually use my phone for work and personal use all day long. I end up picking it up & putting it down multiple times throughout the day. With this charger, I find myself questioning each instance, weighing the necessity of disturbing the phone/charger relationship. I really don't need that added stress. I think I'm going to buy a different charger. There was one going for around $25... Maybe I should just suck it up and buy the Samsung brand. It has cool lights letting you know when it's fully charged.Update 2015-07-13: After leaving the above review, Yootech contacted me to say that they had redesigned the charging pad (it's now circular) because of the frustrating issues noted above. They sent out a new one free of charge which I commend them for. After using the product for a few weeks, I must say that it is much better although still a bit annoying. They have reduced the frustration factor by around 80%. However, over this last weekend, Android issued a new update to Lollipop (5.1 I think). Since then, the relationship between the charging pad and the phone has degraded to what I can only compare to domestic violence. Not only have all the improvements been destroyed, my phone is cussing out the charger with an angry beep every five minutes after it wakes up. There just doesn't seem to be a sweet spot anymore to calm the phone's nerves. I will not be using this charging pad anymore and I am changing the stars from 2 to 1. Sorry, Yootech.
