Give it a chanceโitโs better than it seems at first.
Pros: Good flavor, good value, easy to use once you get the hang of it, healthy alternative: low glycemic index, excellent customer service. Cons: Can be tricky to figure out at first, bag design just slightly wonky, metallic taste if you get too much, not super versatile. Reason for purchasing: My partner and I decided to look for a sugar substitute because we realized we were both eating too much sugar. He did most of the research, and landed on this specific monk fruit sweetener: Enlight Ultra Pure. I was skeptical at firstโI had my heart set on the familiarity of Splendaโbut I gave it a chance, and Iโm glad I did! Customer service experience: Enlight sent us a troubleshooting-type email before we even received the product, explaining how to use the product, common mistakes, etc. I really appreciated that; it told me that this is a company that knows its stuff and actually cares about the customerโand it would have been frustrating to have to figure all of that out on my own, especially at this price point. Opening the package: When I got the product and opened the box, I was initially quite disappointed. I thought, โI spent that much money on this tiny bag!?โ Then I tried to open the bag, and it did that thing resealable bags do so oftenโtearing not enough, and then far too much, falling out of your hands, and then becoming impossible to actually reseal because there isnโt enough packaging above the zipper portion to get it back open again. I lost maybe 1/4 cup of sweetener when it fell, which is a lot given how little comes in the package, and I was furious. However, I had already spent the money and opened the product, so I decided to just move forwardโso I found an airtight plastic container that would fit the entire bag and moved on; again, Iโm glad I did! First taste: I tasted it twice, as a tester. First, I got a tiny amountโabout the size of the end of a ballpoint penโand was shocked. It was terrible: way too sweet, and then it tasted like I was sucking on an old penny. But I remembered the email and decided to give it one more shot. This time, I stuck a spoon in the bag, then tapped off all the sweetener until there was only a residual film of the stuff that wouldnโt tap off. Then I touched just the tip of my tongue to the spoon and picked up a tiny amount of the residual film. There it was. It was sweet, delicious, and clean-tasting. At that point, I realized that this product is actually good value, because you need so little that a 50g bag lasts months. Continued use: I mostly use this in hot drinks, primarily tea and coffee, because it just doesnโt dissolve very well in colder liquids or sprinkled on solids. I used to use 3 teaspoons of Splenda per 8 oz of coffeeโI only need about 1/8-1/4 teaspoon of Enlight for the same amount of coffee. Longevity: We got this at the end of May/beginning of June, 2019. Itโs now August 17, 2019, and we still have about 3/4 of a bag left. Thatโs with using it for 3-4 cups of tea/coffee per day. Conclusion: Iโve recommended this product to several people as a hot drink sweetener, and I will continue to do so. Itโs wonderful value for a wonderfully healthy alternative. However, Iโd feel better about it with a more reliable resealing function, and I do wish it worked for more than hot drinks. Still, itโs easily worth the money, and it deserves five stars.

Final Monk Fruit Switch
My husband stopped using cane sugar and switched to monk fruit. He has tried several different brands. He said this one tastes the most like sugar without the after taste.

You can't beat the value or quality. It's simply the best pure monk fruit I've ever found!
I can't say enough about how great this product is. The quality is top notch and you get significant amount. I once bought a 20g bag of Pure Monk Fruit from another brand for the SAME PRICE (NEVER AGAIN) and it lasted me over 2 months - this is 100g so you can really understand the value & how long it lasts. A few quick learnings I've had from using Pure Monk Fruit. (1) I like to add the powder inside my cup, BEFORE I had the liquid. It prevents it from clumping on the surface and makes it easier to blend. (2) Since it's a powder, you have to mix it really well. Sorta like using protein powders - mix it really well so it dissolves properly. (3) Add a tiny bit to your beverage first and then add more. You have to start small and increase the sweetness. I put a tiny bit on the edge of my spoon and that's enough to sweeten my coffee. (4) It's Monk Fruit, so it taste slightly different from sugar. After a few uses, you can't tell the difference any more, and I honestly prefer the taste of it over sugar now. My whole family loves it. Definitely check it out!

My New Favorite Sweetener Brand! Finally, Pure Monk Fruit.
I purchased a number of the other Monk Fruit sweetener brands and their containers leave a mess everywhere. I love this pouch, it keeps everything nice and tidy. The quality of the product is exceptional and it has no other ingredients. I've searched around trying various brands in grocery stores and specialty markets and they always slip some 'added' ingredients, but this package is just monk fruit which I appreciate. I also love that is has no aftertaste and it only took a tiny bit to sweeten my smoothie. It says it has 100 servings, but I can honestly see this lasting way longer than I thought - maybe a few months, which makes the value great. I definitely recommend it!

VILE... That's the product summed up in one word
Floods out the top of bag when opened. Careful not to inhale this stuff. Has a worse taste than ANY of at least 8 brands of stevia I have tried over many years (yes this review is for our monkfruit but stevia is all I can compare it to as far as highly concentrated sweeteners). Also more expensive than ANY sweetener per cup of sugar equivalent sweetness. Also according to chart on bag, 3/8 tsp would equal one cup of sugar but not so at all. It takes about 2 tsp to get a cup of sugar equivalent. I calculated this by making a batchof Kool-Aid without any added sweeteners. I then divided into eight 1-cup servings. I added the appropriate amount of sugar according to what I would normally use in a two quart batch. I then slowly in very tiny 1/64 of a teaspoon measurements proceeded to sweeten the other seven glasses of Kool-Aid with various sweeteners, taste testing it against the sugar sweetened Kool-Aid. based on the amounts required to sweeten 1 cup of unsweetened Kool-Aid I was able to calculate that it takes approximately 2 teaspoons of this to equal the sweetness of sugar. I'm here to tell you that the monk fruit was the most vile of all. I have heard that lakanto pure monk fruit sweetener is better, and I tend to believe it. I have purchased a couple brands of erythritol and monk fruit combinations, and the lakanto brand to me had absolutely no trace of an aftertaste from the monk fruit even when dipping strawberries in it straight, whereas one of the other brands I could tell that there was monk fruit in it by the aftertaste it left albeit not severe. it is better when mixed with erythritol but I think lakanto probably has a better pure extract and I am going to purchase that next. This stuff is non-returnable and if you end up stuck with it as I am, my suggestion is to use it in savory dishes where a little sweetness is desired. In those cases the aftertaste is mostly in detectable. However baked goods or anything sweet, forget this stuff it's nasty. you can sometimes get away with using a very small amount of the monk fruit in combination with other sweeteners if what you're making has enough spices in it to hide the monk fruit aftertaste. Again I think this is the brand. The powder is a yellowish-orange. I think it should be white if it had been extracted in a more pure method to allow a clean taste. Probably similar to the difference between buying ground up green stevia leaves versus buying pure stevia extract which comes from rebaudioside a. Good luck to anyone stuck with this product. It has been pretty good in savory dishes as I mentioned. It was pretty good in a coconut curry dish.

This is the only sweetener I both love and trust
I chose the powdered version of "Enlight Monk Fruit Pure Extract" because unlike the granulated version, it contains no erythritol. Much sweeter than sugar, it only takes a small amount for things like coffee or flavoring desserts, and I don't taste any bitternesss. It doesn't dissolve as easily as sugar, but that's minor. Now that even the much-beloved Stevia has been determined to possibly be the cause of many health problems, I'm grateful to have discovered this pure product. Ingredients: "Pure monkfruit Extract (25% MOGROSIDE V)." I've already reordered several times, and once was as a gift for a friend.

Updated review
I have been searching for a sugar substitute that is tolerable now that I have lowered my carbs and sugar intake. I've found Stevia has an aftertaste that is a bit too metallic for me. After researching and reading reviews, it appeared that this monk fruit was going to be an amazing solution, although the cost had me hesitant. I received the package and was a bit surprised at how light it was, but I've read enough to know that a very little goes a long way. When I opened the top of the package with scissors it was apparent that the zip-loc feature on the bag was not closed and some of the very fine, light and pricey powder went all over the counter and my hands. Yet, although I was disappointed over the initial and unexpected loss of this expensive, powdery and sweet sugar solution, this gave me my first opportunity to get a taste of it. So I licked just a tiny amount from the back of my hand and holy cow!!...it was metallic and bitter tasting as soon as it touched my tongue!!! I couldn't have tasted a smaller amount either and literally it was an awful, nasty taste that lingered in my mouth. There is a sweetness that is buried in the bitterness, but so hidden that I felt there is absolutely no way that this can work in my coffee or recipes. But, I wanted to give it a fair shot and thought maybe it was just a fluke. Having never tasted monk fruit before, I honestly didn't know what should be expected and had nothing to compare it to. My thought, too, was that maybe I happened to get a bad batch. The expiration date is 05/2020, a great shelf-life yet to be lived! Well, this morning I gave it another try and added a teeny-tiny amount (less than an 1/8 of a tsp) to my coffee along with my creamer. Seriously!!...are you kidding me??? I had to ditch the the entire cup-full down the drain, it was completely foul tasting, and it doesn't go away quickly at all. Could my taste buds be that sensitive to this?...or could this just be a bad batch?? To make matters worse...you can't return it!!! That is a whole lot of money gone to waste!! Uuuugh!! So as a suggestion to others, try to find a way to sample monk fruit before you buy into it. This was a huge disappointment to me, so much so, I left a review...which I never take the time to do. 10/6/18 I wanted to update my review. As explained above, I believe that I did just get a bad batch, as since then I had a friend sample it and he had the same reaction. I also purchased Monk Fruit sweetener at a local store and found it to be very sweet. Better yet, I'm happy to report that the company that I purchased this product from, Enlight, and Amazon, took very impressive and quick action to remedy the problem and so I find it difficult to complain under the circumstances.

Not great, but I use it sometimes
Adding to my review again. I'm using it now in my morning coffee. I prefer it to xylitol in hot coffee. So, at least it's not going to waste. I learned recently that monk fruit is not permitted to be sold in the UK and EU, based on the fact that not enough about its effects on humans is known. This surprised me. Today's date is Sept. 26, 2023. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I had read the reviews on this company's website and somehow forgot to read the reviews on Amazon. If I had, I certainly wouldn't have bought it. It's as much bitter as it is sweet. And the sweetness itself doesn't stand up when added to coffee, cocoa, or whatever. I started by using a tiny amount, thinking it would be very sweet, but soon found that adding 100 times the amount I thought I should doesn't make much of a dent. It doesn't have much sweetening power. No way I would even attempt to bake with it. Not returnable either. -------------------------------- I've now raised my rating to 3-stars from one. I had found a much better tasting monkfruit sweetener (Teakihut), but it made me sick to my stomach. At least this one doesn't make me sick. What I've discovered; this one works much better in cold drinks than hot (with not too much bitterness). Makes hardly a dent in hot coffee (I use โ teaspoon). When I leave the coffee in the fridge for iced coffee the sweetness increases by a lot. I don't know how it would work for baked goods. I made some biscotti and dusted them with โ teaspoon of this stuff by shaking in a bag and that worked to sweeten the batch. Keep in mind that taste is subjective. The above is only my experience.
