Good quality and great value
I bought this radio about 2 weeks ago and it is fantastic. The sound quality is superb and the features are great. I bought this radio mainly to be used as an MP3 player. The first thing that I would like to comment on is the fact that, eventually, the whole unit completely freezes. It happened to me about 4 times so far, and I can't determine what is causing it. Sometimes it happens when you are navigating through the system, sometimes it simply happens when the radio is in stand-by. The only way to get the radio out of its "frozen" state is to completely unplug the unit from the mains and start over again, which is rather annoying. My last attempt to solve the problem myself will be to perform a "factory reset" and see what happens. If that doesn't solve the problem I will return the item as it is under warranty. The second thing that i would like to talk about is the USB media player. The unit provides a USB port at the front which I you can plug a mass storage device to play your mp3s. Well, the best way to describe it is: It does the job. Nothing more than that. I say that because the functionality to me sounds rather poorly implemented and there aren't many navigation options. There are no "sorting" facility; for instance the folders and files are ordered by the order they appear in the file system. You cannot order alphabetically, per genre, album or singer, neither you cannot access the mp3 "tags" to view music information. It is simple navigation through folders and files as they have been been written in the file system (PS: file system in that sense denotes, in simple terms, the device connected to the usb port). So in my opinion, rather poor in that aspect.Overall, apart from those two issues which I found so far, a great piece of kit, good sound and quality and very happy with my purchase overall.

BUYER BEWARE !!!!!!!! - Manufacturers lack of customer care after warranty runs out.
BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!! I bought this radio 4 years ago.One side of the handle unscrewed itself and I can no longer carry the radio using the handle.(cannot be fixed externally). This was swiftly followed by the power adapter not connecting properly. The look of this radio has always been cheap looking and now I can add that the casing is cheap and the power adaptor can only connect at a certain angle. This is unacceptable as these faults should be a lifelong warranty to reflect the high cost of the radio. You cannot claim to be the best and not deliver.Roberts Radio manufacturers (HQ), expect any repair or fault on this radio after 12 months to be paid for by the buyer. They even have a designated repair centre who will gladly repair anything as long as you foot the bill and postage. When asked to examine my radio they replied ' All I can suggest is sending the set in to HQ where our chief engineer can investigate.' No offer of shipping or apology for what had happened to their product in such a short time. All that was needed was to fix the handle and replace the power adapter. For a radio that charges above the average for it's products, the buyer deserves above average aftercare service, unfortunately it doesn't exist with this company.I have since bought a new power adapter and now have to lift up the radio with 2 hands underneath (really inconvenient). The shipping/postage would have costs me more to send it to them. This has put me off ever buying another Roberts Radio again. I hope anyone thinking of buyer one of their radios will consider the claims of product quality V likelihood of faults arising and the lack of customer aftercare service.

Roberts wi-fi radio, "Many thanks, Roberts!"
The main reason for choosing a "Roberts" is that I gather their products generally enjoy a good reputation. Regarding this radio, a considerable plus is that it has a good carrying handle which makes it easy to take from one room to another. I also appreciated the decently sized pre-set keys although I would have liked a few more. However, I do have a bit of a problem in adding to, and accessing the "favourites" list. Please note that the "listen again" does not apply to BBC channels over the internet. The sound is good and clear but do not expect to be able to flood a room with a full-bodied symphony or Count Basie and I do wish that the input socket for earphones had been at the FRONT of the radio..I also own a Logtech radio which I have compared to the Roberts. Both radios have their particular advantages but after having listened to the Beeb via an awful Long Wave reception, later by satellite which the Beeb recently closed down for transmissions to the greater part of Europe , these radios are an enormous advance. The only disadvantage is that transmissions suddenly get cut off every now and again. This tends to vary with times of the day & also may owe to my Wi-Fi Connection which I have to get via a telephone line.In all, even with these slight reservations, I can only say "many thanks, Roberts" for these fairly-priced, beautifully compact radios that are surely a minor technological triumph .Nicholas Ellis(on a small Island in the SE Baltic)
