Complete Book of Knots

I am very happy to have found a copy of this book. While it was used, it arrived in pristine condition and I doubt it was ever read.

I've owned half a dozen knot books, and this is the best of them. The problem with so many knot books is they show you step three as step one, and make you feel like an idiot because you can't even start. This one doesn't do that. It has by far the easiest instructions for a monkey's fist of any book I've seen.I don't get the critical reviews. The author is a certified knot superstar and certainly knows his junk. He's seen the other books, and wrote this one. I think most of the criticisms fall into the "over-analyzing" category, or people who just aren't comfortable with two-thumbs-upping anything. Listen--this is a fantastic book. You want to learn knots? It'll teach you.

This makes a good first book on tying knots. For the most part, the illustrative drawings showing how to tie various knots were clear and easy to follow. There were a couple of drawing errors and sometimes it wasn't always clear to me how I arrived at the next step. But once I practiced repeatedly tying the knot, it became clear. I've no regrets. Highly recommended for your knot-tying library.

The book wasn't quite as complete as I had hoped, but the illustrations are good, and the short histories on the knots were interesting. For the price, it was a fine book. Some knots have different names and it seems that there were several repeated knots in the pages of the book. I'm sure this was because of the way the book was organized, but I would rather have had more knots than repeated ones.

Amazingly enough, I wasn't entirely satisifed with Mr. Budworth's book on decorative knots,  The Complete Book of Decorative Knots . This one is different. Maybe it's because the knots in question are more for function than decoration, but I'm able to follow the directions easily. The selection of knots is pretty thorough and the inclusion of a description for where a given knot can be used is very helpful. I've found it very useful learning new knots and reviewing knots I've used in the past. I've been using it as a reference while teaching Scouts how to tie basic knots. It's been very handy.

This book is a good reference to the art of tying knots. I have been working on knots the past few weeks. I am and have been curious about the origin of these useful tools and techniques for a while. These works of art are a joy to tye and frustrating at the same time, as are the hobbies of most people. I will be purchasing a few more books to further my knowledge of this art. Thanks to the Author of this fine book.

This book includes all the knots you've wanted to learn and more. Each page has a little history about the origin of the knot, its use, and excellent pictures showing even us novices how to tie it correctly.I would highly recommend for sailors, outdoorsmen, and scouts.

I found this to be a very good reference for knot tying and the pictures along with an explanation of tying the knot are excellent. The book is also great as it provides a history of the knot. The book even has some poems about knots. Just all around great book to have as a reference.

I am enjoying learning knots for every occasion. Mostly for securing loads or boats.
