Keeps microwave clean; Can get stained; Learn from my stupid/lazy mistake and do not cook food on top of it.
I used to own something like this in college. One of my roomates took it when we moved out and I did not notice at first so I never got it back.I put this on top of almost everything. It definitely keeps splatter from hitting the microwave for an easy clean up. It makes it where I do not have to use up papertowels or wax paper when I reheat food.It does get stained easily. I like spaghettios, but I know the sauce occasionally pops and does some splattering. My cover has a few orange spots and I have washed it in the dishwasher since the last time I had spaghettios. I did not buy this to be pretty. Even with the staining it still does exactly what it does.I have a small kitchen. This item lives in the microwave. It is in there when it is not in use. There are certain containers I use that do not need a cover. I have been lazy where I have just been putting stuff on top of it in the microwave instead of taking it out... my laziness has resulted in the melting of the top of it...I cooked popcorn and instead of taking the cover out and putting the popcorn bag on the plate inside the microwave, I put it on top of the cover. I was just being lazy. The popcorn bag got hot enough that it had melted the plastic it was sitting on. But this is a $4 add on item, so I am just now buying a new one. Lesson learned, microwave cover is either on top or not used... do not cook things on top of it

So simple. So useful
I don't know why I have not been using these all my life. I hate cleaning up messes in the microwave almost as much as I hate a dirty microwave. Usually I will cover a plate with a bowl or another plate and just dirty up two plates to heat an item. Now I have bought a few of these and have a much easier time with cleanup and messes. These covers have vents in the top to release steam. Food won't be as soggy as when you use a plate to cover your food. If something splatters on the cover while you heat your food you can just toss these in the dishwasher for easy cleanup. I like the design of the covers mostly except for the handle on top. It could have a little better design for gripping and be isolated better from the thermal transfer of rising steam. It can be hot when taking it out sometimes. I did damage one of these covers when heating some water in a cup I set on top of the cover. The cover melted a bit but still works.

Does What It Should
Bought this for my mother and I have used it myself at her house. My mother seems to like it and she uses it all the time. It does what it should. It covers the plate, bowl or dish of food while you heat it up to prevent particles or liquid from spattering the inside of your microwave. It features a ring of ventilation holes around the top of it and a handle molded into the center of the top. It doesn't seem to get too hot to handle when you take it out, but I haven't used it that much and I haven't heated anything for very long periods of time with it.Possible cons: - It could be a bit taller and wider to better accommodate larger dishes. - The hard plastic construction could be thicker for extra durability. - Would be best if the plastic Contains No BPA and the company advertises that. (As it is, I am not sure if it does or doesn't, but most likely it does.)

Why didn't anyone think of this sooner?
Seriously, how long has the microwave been around? For YEARS I remember having to find a plate or bowl or plastic wrap or whatever to cover my food with and nothing never quite worked just right. And to make things worse, after your food is done, you reach in to your microwave to pull that make-shift ceramic bowl food cover, and the dang thing is a million degrees. So after burning your fingers, you get the joy of having an additional dish to wash.. yaaaay... And if you are feed up with all that noise and don't choose not to cover your food, then you microwave ends up looking like something from a Wes Craven movie in short order. This ingeniously simple yet effective device has vent holes so it never gets too hot to handle, and it covers your food, and you are never gonna eat off of it so you can get away with a quick rinse in the sink and you are good to go. So I recommend this product.

Works great!
I'm not sure how I grew up in a family that did not use a microwave plate cover like this!! We didn't cover our plates/bowls when we used the microwave, and as you can imagine, our microwave was pretty gross. Now that I'm all grown up ;) with my own microwave, I don't want the same thing to happen. So I purchased this item. We've been using this cover for more than a year now - usually use this at least once a day - and it has held up. Looks the same as when I bought it.The product does not get hot when microwaving food, so it is simple to lift off without worrying about burning yourself when the product is too hot in the microwave. To clean, I will usually hand rinse it between uses and then put in microwave for the bigger messes.

So great for keeping my new microwave clean!
Works great! I was determined to get one of these when I got a new microwave. The old one actually died because of oil spatter heating the inside cover, then the metal underneath rusted. Easy to wash, hasn't stained so far (even with curry sauces/soups). Only downside is that 1) It can suction to bowls when you heat it, and has to be carefully removed and 2) It can make the bowl REALLY hot when the food is just right so I have to use mits more times than not if I'm heating up a bowl of soup. But I'm still pleased with it, and love that it's BPA free!

A great kitchen helper!
When I think about the many, many years I have owned a microwave and just kept wiping up the spatters and spills rather than use food covers other than paper towels or plastic wrap..was I crazy or lazy? The Microwavable Food Covers (I ordered two) are just perfect for my needs. They do have steam vents, two indentations for your fingers to remove or place the covers, and seem quite durable. The covers do prevent the food from splattering and thus no messy clean-ups after microwaving. Because I tried them out on heating up chili and baked beans, I immediately rinsed the covers so that I wouldn't trade cleaning dried-on cover spatters with cleaning the inside of a microwave oven.

Reheat those leftovers!
Works great for helping heat things in the micro. Has enough vents to prevent big wet build-up when heating. Had it for about a year now and it seems pretty durable.

It's a good quality product
It's a good quality product. Little expensive considering it's just a piece of plastic though. But it's serving its purposes.

Recipe for perfectly steamed squash
Easy to grab handle, keeps food from splattering all over my microwave and is easy to toss in the dishwasher. It fits perfectly over my plates and I discovered yesterday that if you take an acorn squash, cut it in half, scoop out the seeds, put the halves cut-side-down on a plate, pour half a cup of water over them, put this cover on top, and microwave on high for 5 minutes you get perfectly steamed squash! You can also flip and fill them with butter, cinnamon and a little sugar after 4 minutes, finish cooking then eat them with a spoon right out of their shells.

OK
Inexpensive and has lots of venting, but I ended up having to cut about half a centimetre off the bottom as it didn't fit on my plates so kept sliding off. At least it was softer plastic and bendable so I could cut it. I also don't like the recessed handles in the cover as sometimes they poke into the food I am heating if it's on a smaller plate. For the price you pay however, this is a reasonable cover.
