WEN AT6535 3.5-Amp Oscillating Spindle Sander with Extra Large Beveling Table Top

Awesome machine! Love it. Is bigger and more substantial than I envisioned it to be. The only thing I could say that needs work would be the drum and tool storage but that is a minor issue in the grand scheme of it. Runs smoothly, table is quite adequate and machine heavy enough to not bother to clamp down if doing smaller jobs. I am completely satisfied with the tool. Would recommend it enthusiastically.

Only used it once but appears to be a good machine for the money

The throat plates are plastic, flimsy, and do not sit flush with the tabletop causing the work piece to get caught on the edge of the throat. Aluminum die cast of CNC plate would have been nice even if it cost a little more. The motor is powerful, and the spindles are easy to change. The large tilting tabletop is really good especially on a tabletop model. It does look like WEN, Grizzly and Shop Fox are all the exact same except for the price and colors but over all to date I'm satisfied. I had a lower section of a storage cabinet I made my wife many years ago and put a set of casters on it and mounted mine to it so I can roll it out when I use it and not take up counter space in my shop.

I wish I could give this 3.5 stars. I needed a spindle sander, and I had been eyeballing this one for a long time. It was on one price ‘tier’ that seemed decent. Others were even cheaper, but smaller, or bigger and for production work, or industrial standing tools that take way more space than I have. This does the job I need it to, but it lacks some of the refinement higher priced models will have. Positives: -It works. It does what it is supposed to, and it sands (so far). And it does that well, thankfully. Time will tell for longevity. -It is way better than sanding by hand, and much better than a drill press attachment. -It’s more affordable than the ones that are solid cast iron and three times the price. I got it on a 90 day lowest price near a holiday when I needed it in a pinch. -Movable: 35-ish pounds, versus the 75 pound ones at the next price point up. -No extra vibration that I noticed. Some have commented on that. -Minimal assembly required. Negatives: -You get what you pay for. -The finish on the one I received was not good at all. The table was flat (enough). But once it was flat at the factory, they stopped machining it. The surface was very rough and gritty, and there were sharp burrs on the edges. I took my sander to it and polished it a bit to 150 grit, and filed the edges. Thats really all I needed. It’s a tool, not a mirror. -The table was not quite square out of the box to the spindle. Wah, wah, I know. It just took a couple minutes to adjust the screws to fix that. -Some of the parts are really cheap plastic. That not a surprise, but still… -Is the table cast iron? Doubtful. There’s no mention of the material anywhere, so my guess is it’s aluminum (or mystery metal). Again at this price point that’s no surprise. -The power switch is really easy to turn off if you are leaning close. -The dust collection port is not the most convenient, almost recessed into the body. It is probably designed to fit in the box, not for efficiency. It fits for now, but I’ll have to get some adapters. Summary: You get what you pay for. If you need an occasional machine, this will probably do just fine. It might need a little work at the start, but consider that part of the cost. If you need something bigger or more refined, you probably need to look at a tool retailer. As for me, I’m satisfied enough.

Makes short work of shape sanding , easy to change tubes. Plenty of power . Only downside side is storage of disk and tools . I have it I. A file cabinet so I store them in a drawer, which works well for me. The cylinders store on side and easy to reach.

This is my third oscillating sander, second WEN sander. Including the two saws I own, not one vacuum attachment fits. They are ALL different. Now add the fact that WEN also changed the tube length. Tubes are all 4.5 inches...this is 5” and change. Sand paper tubes only come in 4.5 and 6” lengths. Not to mention this wen won’t take the 3inch diameter at all! Then of course the plastic inserts for the table don’t even come close to being flush....which causes a pause in your sanding stroke, ruining a smooth finish. Last but not least...the steel casting had holes and rough spots on finish. Looks as if they sent a used one. Closer inspection just shows it’s cheap. You get what you pay for. But as what I thought was an upgrade from the base model...actually cost me more money. Buy the cheap one, get the insurance, use it til it breaks, return for new one. As a professional knife maker, I’d skip this one if I had the chance again. Sadly I didn’t open the box until two days after the return date.

For the price this is a great spindle sander, doesn't feel cheap I use it several times a week and its still going strong

As soon as I first turned it on it was very noisy but seemed to work but within 30 seconds the oscillation stopped working. The noise was a high pitch screech that just wouldn't stop. I checked to see if there was anything out of alignement but couldn't see anything wrong. That was my first Wen product and I was really hopeful after all the reviews I read and videos I watched online. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to its reputation. I packed it and sent it back within 30 minutes of receiving it.
