A hero’s journey, with twists and turns.
Trysmoon Book 2 follows directly from the events of the first novel. Gen is now the trusted guardian of the Chalaine, and a hero to many. He’s also near death. It is hardly a spoiler to mention he survives, though with much help. A key revelation follows. The first book played with traditional fantasy tropes in unexpected ways, and this one does much the same. The Ha’Ulrich, the chosen one of prophecy, continues to demonstrate what happens to a person raised with every conceivable indulgence, and no discipline. Hints continue to accumulate about the nature and origin of that prophecy. The evil god Mikkik is unusually clever for a fantasy villain, and even has a turn as a POV character. Gen himself is a twist on another fantasy convention… but that I’ll leave to the reader.Much of the first half of the book is focused on preparation and character development. Gen gradually shakes off the dehumanized coldness inflicted on him by Shadan Khairn’s training. The young man beneath is sometimes disappointing, but believably human. His romantic life becomes complicated, though it moves largely in circles rather than forward. In particular, his relationship with the shallow, flighty Fenna seems forced. The slowly developing love triangle with the Chalaine and Mirelle has more power. This is the first time in fiction I’ve seen a love triangle with mother and daughter as (unintentional and largely unwitting) romantic rivals, and though odd, it didn’t disturb me the way it has some readers. The pace picks up in the second half, as most of the main characters gather for their great mission to the marriage of the Ha’Ulrich and the Chalaine, and their prophetic destiny. I’ll avoid spoilers, but the vivid writing and strong characters carry the story through both action and stretches of quiet. When the climax arrives, many show their true natures. On the whole, a strong, engaging story.

A lot of interesting ideas. Exciting and well done.
There are four books in “The Trysmoon Saga” series. They are one long story. Be prepared to read them all. The four books in order are Ascension, Duty, Hunted, Sacrifice.5 stars for Ascension. Exciting wonderful journey following Gen an orphan. The evil local magistrate bullies and harms Gen and others. Warlord Khairn comes to town killing many. Khairn forces Gen to learn to fight. There are magical creatures and healers in this world. It reminds me of Lord of the Rings with a little Harry Potter.4 stars for books 2 and 3, Duty and Hunted. Still very good as they continue Gen’s story.3 ½ stars - maybe 4 stars for the last book Sacrifice. There were sooo many battles and journeys. The main characters fight, flee and survive one obstacle, then an emergency happens and they are fighting something else. I was getting a little weary of battle after battle. But the overall story and how it ended was worthwhile. The evil god Mikkik was close to destroying all the good in the world. The epilogue was fun and very feel good.AUDIOBOOK NARRATOR:Simon Vance is excellent. And he does females well.DATA:Narrative mode: 3rd person. Swearing language: none. Sexual content: no details shown but a few occurrences are referred to after the fact. Setting: medieval time on another planet. Book copyright: 2014. Genre: fantasy.

Great Continuation
Having finished half of this Saga, I am impressed. The characters on the whole are really good. A ton of time is given to each character interaction. To many times in books I find the characters will have a conversation that hits the bullet points. In Trysmoon they feel much more real. The progress naturally and end logically.Gen has become one of my favorite heroes from Epic Fantasy. I know he could be considered too good but the story does a great job of explaining that. The only character I would complain about would be Ha’Ulrich. I feel like I don't understand his motivations. That is because he is held at a distance from the narrative. I think some time with him would flesh out the only weak side of this story. What this book does to the mythology of the Prophecy is incredible. Like other great fiction it raises tough questions with no easy answers. If the rest of the series is as good as the first two then this will be one amazing story.

Excellent Writing and Story Telling
The second in a series, this book was every bit as exceptional as the first. I cannot put the books down. This is story at its best! From character development to action, this book has it all. I cannot wait to start the next book in the series!

Engrossing saga
I am truly enjoying this series. It is 4 rather than 5 stars due to various typos and errors. I find the setting and plot extremely interesting; however, the characters are the real attention-grabber for me. Gen is fascinating and enigmatic. Mirelle is terrific. I particularly love the conversations between her and Gen. The Chalaine is growing on me more with this book, too, whereas the last book didn't give her very much depth or dimension. I enjoyed Fenna, Jarod and the mysterious half-elf, as well. With a good proofreader and editor, these stories would be phenomenal. Even without, I am determined to read the whole saga!

This is really book 1.2. Continuation from book 1. The future father of god and complete moron having been slapped down a bit by Gen for trying to rape the future mother of God. The mother of God, the chalaine, is the perfect woman. The father of God and savior of the world is an obnoxious clown. They are about to have the wedding of the century. To get them to their wedding and honeymoon, they have to fight all kinds of evil. Hard to put down.

Duty
I review what I like, not worry about what someone else thinks. It may doom the transaction to a few who listen to the garbage from some but not my liking of this author and the stories written. I have purchased and supported many authors and only comment on what I finish. Trysmoon is a good adventure with complexed characters. Take the review freely given for what is worth and nothing more. I have written over 160 reviews with 5 stars I also do not write reviews for allot of other books purchased. I would say that the average number of stars for the books I have would be about 3. TTFN

Fails to deliver
Book one whilst not brilliant, showed potential with an interesting world and a wide variety of characters. I felt it tailed off towards the end as nothing much happens and character development seemed to stall however there was enough in the book to merit me buying the second. Unfortunately the second book goes rapidly down hill. Character Development is nill, nearly all of the characters are two dimensional, at times cartoon villains. I ended up hating Gen for being so utterly perfect and the dialogue became torturous, I ended up skipping several pages in the second half of the book it got that boring. I had read in another review, praise for 'strong women characters' however the main purpose of the women in this book seem to be to fall in love with Gen and go on about how awesome he is. Then the author skips around this problem at the end with a ludicrous development regarding Fenna. Suffice it to say I will not be buying the third book.

Burning well now
I couldn't put this one down & basically finished it in 2 solid days of reading. I wouldn't say that you are shocked by any of the plot twists, as you can see it coming just not the how. Of you were to be hyper critical, things just fall into place, for Gen, a little too easily & his meteoric rise just isn't believable.

Love these books
I love this series and read my favorite parts on a regular basis (sad i know). When you read this series you really do route for the main charter as hes a good guy but you know he feels lust and hate and controls it to a level we only wish we had. The best way of putting it is that you really learn to respect Gen.

Still going strong
The breadth of the characters and the plot continues to grow. I wasn't sure of the direction it was taking at first but the author justified it by the end. Excellent sword and sorcery novels with a good plot and characters you can relate to. Maybe not a must buy but close to it so far.

The characters are very real and easy to identify
It's been a long time since I have read a book which I have been unable to put down. This book is fast paced and draws you into the plot from the first page. The characters are very real and easy to identify, with meaning that you share their emotions and frustrations. Brilliant and definitely recommend.
