Review: Excellent Color Theory 101 - As a working artist who has been through art school and is going through a personal Renaissance with my paintings, I have been feeling I wanted to brush up on my color theory. I'm not a beginner but I wanted to refresh with a beginner book. This gave me a unique perspective on this book and its contents. As a seasoned and educated artist, reading this book was an excellent refresher course. I can tell it would be a very easy to follow guide for a beginner to understand all basic color theory. It doesn't get too technical while explaining everything you really need to know about color and color theory as a new artist. I am now feeling a little more confident about playing with color and I have a few interesting ideas to try. I think artists at all levels could benefit from this excellent book. Review: Well explained color theory - excellent but sinple breakdown with original painting examples of each concept. perfect for what i need!

Probably a Good Guide for Acrylic and Oil
I do watercolor so the book was helpful to me for some basic color balance and palette building but the book is limited. The authors examples lean heavily toward this specific artistic style (and location) which was not very helpful to me. In all fairness - art is heavily subjective and the use of color in painting is very difficult to train and articulate. The works represented are good works but that being said - it may or may not be very helpful to a person looking for guidance or "rules" in developing a palette of expression that works for them.

Simple and Beautiful
This book is a great starter. It’s way larger in size than I thought it would be, so everything is really easy to read and the pictures are clear.

Book is too big.
This book or oversized pamphlet is too big. It us huge and cannot fit in a bookshelf. What are you supposed to do with it, hang it on your wall? It is nearly the size of a poster.

Enhances a beginners understanding to produce thoughtfulartwork
It has given me opportunity to step forward in my painting with greater clarity and confidence. I can see that there is plenty more to learn and would love another book from this author on the types of brushstrokes especially. It is a beautifully illustrated book.
