Little Bitty Lies: A Hilarious Comedic Novel of Marriage, Friendship, and Southern Secrets [Andrews, Mary Kay] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Little Bitty Lies: A Hilarious Comedic Novel of Marriage, Friendship, and Southern Secrets Review: Hilarious and wonderful - It's amazing how many reviews of books by author Mary Kay Andrews begin with "I loved this book." At the risk of being far from original, but completely sincere: I loved this book! And I seem to say this same thing every single time I read a book by this author. LITTLE BITTY LIES is funny, it's clever, it's unexpected and, ultimately, it even is plausible. Ms. Andrews hooks her readers right from the get-go, and takes them along for a romp that includes a rotten husband who abandons his family...the possible death of that same husband...affairs, adultery, divorces, senility and oh, yes, eyebrow waxing. She sustains this pace, keeping the fun level up, while actually painting a very black and diabolical picture. And everything in the plot works out for the best, including a recipe for a fabulous chicken salad that is sure to become a standard at my house. Review: Little Bitty Lies is a lot of fun - Little Bitty Lies is a lot of fun. Mary Bliss McGowan and Katherine Weidman are good looking, clever, upper middle-class residents of Fair Oaks, Georgia, and used to having a very nice time of it. Their suburban country club lives are turned upside down and inside out when Mary Bliss' husband does a runner and Katherine's spouse has an affair. The gal-pals team up and tackle problems with what is often wickedly funny southern charm. Their men, families, and neighbors, are far from perfect. Yay! I felt like an invisible third friend, in on their plans, and enjoying the nonsense. This is great fluff, very well done. and, okay, it's a tad dated, with landlines and VCRs, but that didn't really detract. Needless to say, but just saying, the premise of how the errant spouses are dealt with requires suspension of belief. There is a nice sex scene--nothing you haven't done. I loved the huggable men, local color, southern gardens, chicken salad, crabbity mother-in-law, kids with attitudes, cocktails and wine. Enjoy!

Good enough to replace when lost.
When my original copy went missing, a new one had to be purchased for the new bookshelves in our house. This is one of those books that can be read again and again, just a perfect example of the "Southern woman revenge" books, probably the all-time best, although Dorothea Benton Frank's new "The Last Original Wife" is up there too. This has a mystery in it for good measure and makes any woman who has ever been wronged start looking for her grandmama's number eight Griswold frying pan. Full of giggles and plot turns, it is a keeper, or if someone walks off with your original, a re-keeper.

Not her best but still worth the time to read
I loved Hissy Fit, The Fixer Upper, Savannah Blues. They were some of the best woman's fiction I had read in a long time - good story, amazing characters - I laughed, I cried. But Little Bitty Lies was not as well written. The story was flat, took some time to develop, then only became an ok story. I did, however, love the characters as I have in all of MK Andrews books. Mary Bliss did some crazy things, but given her circumstances, it was understandable. And Katharine? Every woman should have a friend like her. Wild and crazy schemes? Yes. But a true friend, always there through thick and thin. All that being said, the ending was very satisfying for me. Most everyone got their happy ending and it left me feeling that the time I spent with this book, was worth it inspite of it's faults. I will always read this author.

Entertaining Chick Lit
I got this book for free after seeing it on the Kindle Buffett list. I did not know the author and had no expectations other than the concept seemed interesting. I liked the book and enjoyed the friendship between Mary Bliss (the main character) and Katherine (her best friend). The premise - of killing off a husband to get out of the financial mess he makes after taking everything and creeping off into the night - was completely implausible but quite entertaining and made for some laugh out loud moments. I did find the fact that a woman could be completely oblivious to the state of affairs (financial or otherwise) in her life disappointing but overall, the book was a fun quick read and I would recommend to others.

Gotta love the South
I loved this book. In fact I enjoy all Mary Kay Andrew's books. Little Bitty Lies was very entertaining. At first I wasn't sure I would enjoy it as much as I have FIXER UPPER AND SAVANNAH BLUES, but after the story got started I enjoyed it. I couldn't understand how she could fake her husbands death and get away with it, but as the story went on and each lie she told let to something elese it got funnier. I highly recommend this book and think you will be hooked on Ms Andrews book. I am a transplant from NJ to SC and love all books about the south. Karen L, SC
