The two features lifting this above other handhelds either 12V or rechargeable models is the rotating sweep roller and the huge power of the suction from the mains powered motor. Now I can clean my stair carpets with ease. It is heavier than a 12V or battery model because of the mains motor so if you have weak wrists or arms be aware this will require more stamina.It can also clean the car boot and seat surfaces easily but you will be using the built in hose and crevice tool (with the roller sweep off) for everywhere else. Electrolux should include a couple of other hose tools like a brush or a wide head but you can use tools you may have already from other cleaners, those from my old Dyson fit as well as those from a 12V.This is not a cleaner for regular large area room cleaning as you would be on your hands and knees but it does give you power sweep cleaning in places where an upright can't get to.The filter can be washed every so often but I ordered a spare filter from Electrolux so I don't have to wait for one to dry after washing. To help you find one, the model code for the machine is "Z61A" and the Electrolux part number for the filter is "506008320000" and can be found for under 6 pounds online.Thankfully as I say you can supplement the hose tools with those you already have but the simplest thing Electrolux should have included is a small rubber clip on the mains lead that keeps the cable wound tightly around the base. I added my own double sided velcro tag to do the job.

Finally I feel I can submit a review. We purchased this for our motorhome & embarked on an 18 month trip. This gem of a Hoover is still going strong. We also had a dog with us so this power Hoover was really put to the test. And it passed, very powerful & worked off our inverter (solar panels) or as normal an electric power supply. It's amazing, from sucking up the relentless Moroccan dust to daily doggy fluff! The suction stayed as powerful as the day we purchased it. It has a small waste container but really not a problem and I would make the effort to clean the filter (soapy water) but worth it for such a performance. It was an amazing price when you compare it to top range dysons, which might I add are not as good. We compared with other travellers!! Honestly this Hoover is sterling, like most things, look after it and it will last a long time. It's fairly small, so great for storing in the MH and not too heavy. Can be used directly on seats etc ( great motor) or you can use the hose to get into the nooks and crannys. The extending hose isn't massively long but enough to hold the Hoover and use the hose with your other hand. Cannot recommend this enough.

It is nice to see that somebody actually gave some thought when designing this super little vacuum. It is powerful, can be used either horizontally or vertically without doing contortions and has a very useful hose built in for getting into those awkward areas. It is also a great idea that it can be used with or without the brush-roller as often just a good suck is ample. The lead is a sensible length as well avoiding the niggle of having to find and use an extension lead. Having read some of the other reviews I remain baffled that some regard it as being either too heavy or too loud! I suppose you'll never please them all? Now it is possible to attend to the stairs and furniture with ease and most important of all my cat has a clean, fur and dust free basket to sleep in every day, being my little 'Glam-A-Puss' she deserves no less. Anything that pleases Polly has to be worth every penny! All in all a great little gizmo available at a realistic price and other manufacturers could learn much - they know who they are.

We've always struggled with our vacuum cleaner to clean out the cars - doesn't pick all the little bits from the carpets, having to use the pipe to clean all the seats/boot/floors took literally hours and was really hard work. The Carvac is the perfect size for the car, is really powerful and has reduced the time it takes to clean out the whole car to about 10 minutes (and we have a people carrier so that's pretty impressive!). I have also used it for the stairs and again it made this usually tiresome job easy and quick.The vac is light and easily operated with one hand, it stores away well too with the ability to wrap the cable around the back.You do have to empty it quite often as it has a small dirt compartment however it is really easy to empty.My only negative about the Carvac is that, although it has a narrow nozzle attachment, it doesn't come with a small brush attachment to fit to the end of the pipe meaning it doesn't clean the dashboard/dials etc in the car very well. Shame as that would pretty much perfect the cleaner. I think I will try and buy a brush nozzle from somewhere else which will fit for this job.All in all this vacuum cleaner is absolutely fantastic and I would definitely recommend it. A great little gadget.
