I wish I had bought it sooner.
I want to start this review off with a quote from another review that won me over: "I wish I would have bought it sooner". The design, materials, and color are a perfect match for my Aeron charcoal chair. I'll get to this later, but customer support was excellent. This review is for the H4 version. I'm a programmer and a while back I purchased a Herman Miller Aeron chair. However, during some intense programming sessions, my neck muscles would start to bunch up. This headrest is exactly what I needed to handle it. Now that I can lean back to support my neck, and it actually helps me with my posture. I was seriously considering purchasing another chair with a headrest when I saw this add on. The price was a little more than I wanted to spend, but it really is a perfect match and works very well. Considering I've had the chair for about 10 years, I expect it is worth it. Fit: In regards to fit, I'm 5'9. When the chair is in the upward position, I use the top downward slope as support. When reclining I tilt the rest up and use the front part. It fits quite well. Adjustment is pretty quick with the clamping lever which is easy to reach, but for the most part I just tilt the upper pivot. Support: The first one that I ordered had a slight manufacturing defect where one side wasn't fully pushed in. It worked fine, it just looked wonky. I contacted support and they got back to me immediately and sent out a new one. Adjustments: (This is not as big of a deal as I probably make it sound, but thought I would mention it.) There are two pivot points on this headrest (which in the pictures, you can tell from the two circles). The first is the bottom part which is controlled by the clamp. The second one is higher up behind the headrest, which is controlled by the tension of two screws. If I'm repositioning the upper head rest a lot, I eventually need to retention the screws. Its really not a big deal, but thought I would mention it. The plastic caps that cover the screws have kind of a fine edge. To keep from marring them, I used a credit cart to work around the cap and pull it up. As a side note, they include spare caps in the package if you do mangle it :) I just keep the caps off for now, but I'll probably just put them back in and not fully seat them to make removal easier. I'm quite happy with the product and considering I use it every day, well worth it.

$200 bucks for something that should have come with the chair? Gerd Dermit
I'm not sure if they updated the unit or not, but I'm 5 days in and no issues with mine yet. The assembly fits snugly on the top edge of the chair. The contours of the plastic body seem custom fit for the chair, so I didn't experience having to force it into place, or any unsightly gaps and general incorrect fit. It looks good and seems OEM quality frankly (thus far), and even the material matched my chairs pattern and color exactly. You have to have an extremely good eye to catch the difference (unless you ordered your chair(s) with another pattern or color). The adjustability of the headrest, after it's been installed, is very easy, using one lever to enable the upward and downard tilt of the headrest, while forward and backward adjustment is done manually (using your hands); I've read that you can adjust the level of force required to move the headrest forward and backward, but personally I haven't needed to do that. As for some other reviews saying the unit gets loose after a week or that they have had to finagle the unit onto the chair with McGiver solutions, I can happily say I have not needed to do anything like that yet. I really can't complain about anything other than the price, but really if you've ever sat in an Aeron (one that you paid for yourself), you quickly realize that for the money spent on it, a critical piece is missing, and this is that piece. It completes the chair and frankly should have come with one from the factory, so if you work for Herman Miller and are reading this, tell your cheap bosses to include this in the box.

Looks Like OEM
This really is a great headrest. I watched a lengthy video some fella did comparing this to a competing headrest called the Atlas or something similar- the guy claimed to be objective but then prodded viewers to use his link to buy the competing product because he gets a commission. Misleading and disingenuous at best. Nonetheless - this headrest really fits well. The frame and mesh both match my Aeron flawlessly - the headrest really does look like it's part of the chair. Regarding the mesh, by the way, the same guy claimed the mesh is "hair gobbling" or some such adjective. I can't say all will have the same experience as I do with short hair, but I can tell you that I've had zero problem with the mesh catching or snagging or gobbling my hair. The headrest adjustment takes a little work to get the position right, and the thumb lever will need to be adjusted (with the supplied allen wrench) to hold position. The tilt-adjustment (via 2 screws) will also need to be snugged up - being careful not to "over" tighten - I tightened them until I achieved no headrest movement without needing excessive force on the screwdriver. My only real complaint is the price. I know it's for an Aeron chair. But it isn't a Herman Miller headrest - and as such, one would assume, the price would be... well... a non-Herman Miller price. $140-plus for this headrest seems a bit off... But - it is very well made and, I will repeat - it doesn't look like some universal add-on.

Perfect Addition to the Aeron Chair
This headrest for the Aeron Chair is a brilliant addition to an already outstanding chair. It not only works seamlessly but also complements the chair's design aesthetic beautifully. This headrest offers an impressive range of adjustability, allowing you to tailor it to your exact needs. While it's true that it's not the most budget-friendly accessory, it's in line with the Aeron Chair's premium quality, and I expected such an investment. My primary reason for getting this headrest was to improve my posture while sitting, and it has delivered on that front superbly. It's a must-have if you value comfort and ergonomics in your workspace. Its performance, design compatibility, and posture-improving capabilities make it an excellent investment for anyone seeking the utmost comfort and support while working or sitting.

Very nice headrest, could encounter some installation issues, customer support very good though
This *would* have been a negative review due to the fact there seemed to be no way to actually attach the headrest. When I opened the box, the headrest was there in a bubblewrap bag, along with instructions, but also a metal plate and a screw. Well, I called Engineered Now and spoke with a very nice support rep who apologized for the problem -- but most importantly, he didn't make excuses or anything. We had a problem to solve and we solved it. The problem, apparently, was that the attachment assembly had come apart at some point, very possibly during shipping. In a corner of that bubblewrap bag was a small metal nut. That goes into a slot in the neck assembly, then the metal clamp screws into that from below. After that, I had no trouble attaching the headrest to my chair. Important bit: There is a good chance you will need to pop off (I had to use a knife edge) the plastic caps at both pivot points and tighten down the screws inside those. I know I had to. But now the headrest is solid and really quite nice. For folks wondering if the H4 works for shorter folks, I'm 5' 4". I usually sit with a small memory foam pillow at my lumbar area. My Aeron is from over 10 years ago and one of the smaller full-feature models. I may futz with the headrest yet, but at some of the lower positioning settings I was able to set the rest down and forward far enough I can actually rest my neck and back of head on it, which is precisely why I bought it in the first place.

I am one very Happy Chappy!
I'm delighted with my new headrest. It not only looks the part, but is the part I've been seeking to complete my Aeron chair. I oozes good design, quality materials and great finish. It has greatly added to the overall comfort my old, creaking joints now experience while sitting in front of my computer. Simple to fit, it offers easy adjustments and endless configurations to meet my changing needs at any given moment. It certainly walks the walk and talks the talk. And the icing on the cake is that I got it at a great price and it arrived much earlier than expected at my Scottish Highland home.

It's comfortable and I like that it matches the rest of ...
This headrest definitely does the job if you're able to set it up correctly. It's comfortable and I like that it matches the rest of the chair unlike other headrests. Like other reviewers, the one I received did not connect tightly to the chair regardless of how much I tried to tighten the screw. I'd probably break my thumbs if I had to tighten it anymore. I could not get the bottom hook to press firmly against the chair resulting in it easily sliding off. So there seems to be some inconsistencies between products, or quality control issues. I think this issue could be easily remedied if they provided one or two washers for the screw. The method I used to fix it was to put two pieces of foam (similar to the foam used on the bottom of furniture legs to prevent scratching of floors) between the bottom hooks and the chair itself. Not a very elegant solution, but you can't see the foam unless you look from the side, and I didn't have any washers at time. However, given the high cost, it's very silly the amount of trouble I had to go through to get this to work properly.

Absolutly Amazing
Two years ago I and to undergo two level fusion in my neck, ACDF. A disc in my neck had collapsed and the two vertebra were pinching the root nerve that went to my left arm. The surgeon told me it is common in people who work at computers a lot due to looking downward all the time. The surgeon gave me two choices, have the surgery or save up for a wheelchair. On a scale of 1 to 10 my pain level was 30,000. Now it's two years later, and I still live with daily pain, and worse if I do anything normal like pick up a bag of potting soil and throw it over my shoulder. I have certainly changed my work environment with elevated monitors, ergonomic keyboards, and a very nice Herman Miller chair that makes life bearable. At the end of most days I was exhausted and just wanted to rest my neck. Holding your head up all day is harder than you think when you have had this kind of surgery. I finally broke down and bought a head rest, and I should have bought it a long time ago. This thing is an absolute gift from God above. It took a little adjusting and it takes a little while to get used to the look, but being able to lean back and rest my neck is beyond fantastic. The head rest if very well built and looks like it belongs to the chair. Even the fabric matches. Now I just need to save up so I can buy another one for my chair at home. The headrest is certainly worth the price or more, it is just after medical bills and time off from work and making all the other needed adjustments, the wallet gets a bit thin. :) Thank you for making such a awesome product.

Fits well, improves the chair
Fits the chair, adjusts well to my height (184cm, Size B chair) and improves chair experience. I was concerned by reviews indicating it was unstable or awkward to adjust. I've had no problems after a week of use. Also came with extra clamps, which presumably resolve previous problem of stability. Expensive, but I knew that and it works.
