The Mood Book: Identify and explore 100 moods and emotions (MOOD series)

Well-Written, Easy to Understand, and Simple-Yet-Informative
I am an Autistic Adult with the complexity of Alexithymia to go with it. This means I can't recognise or understand emotions in myself or others, and need help to be able to process and grasp them properly. I've struggled a lot with this, because it is difficult to our such things into ways I can grasp them and make sense out of them. This book, however, has (I feel) lifted the lid on what these things can be... And not only that; it not only tells you about it, it also explains it in a way you can interpret well, and advises on ways to deal with it. Each entry is not long, and simple enough for me to be able to try and figure it out.Another really good thing is that it has some really complicated emotions in there, many I had not even heard of, and presents each emotion along with its opposite counterpart on the facing page, and the writing is really easy to understand (for me).I actually take it with me to places, and use it to try to explain what I might be feeling to others, or it's used to help me understand others. I've taken it to hospital with me too, so I have a “vocabulary” to use with the medical staff about what is going on inside my head. Having that ability has actually given me more confidence in being able to engage in conversations, because I have a “tool” to help me out with things I otherwise have no name for, and cannot describe. This is one of the best books I've read to help me with this very confusing part of life. It's helped me a lot with things I had found overwhelming, difficult and confusing.I do recommend anyone, young or older and having difficulty with such things, to try this out. A book might not be to everyone’s taste, but for me, Flashcards just didn't have enough information to actually learn about them, or really make enough sense of them for me to be confident using them. This, however, had everything I (personally)needed to manage this much better than I ever had before.

A must have book!
I have previously bought both of the mood card packs and found them very useful. When I found out there was a book on the way I was quite excited. I have now got my copy. I have been dipping in and out of it all week. I am currently in counselling training and will most definitely be using this book with my clients. I have also recommend this book to other colleagues as I feel that it would be a very useful tool for them to use as needed. The way things are written are very clear and accessible. There are practical tips. This book is also very visually pleasing because of the pictures and layout, so would be handy to use with younger people as well. The pages are smooth and glossy, and it is a nice experience just flicking through and reading random pieces. A lot of other books around these topics are quite heavy and intense. The shoes simplicity of the way this has been put together is very clever! I definitely recommend!

A must have to help fathom things out!
I have been a huge fan of Andrea Harrn’s Mood cards since their launch, having used them both for personal as well as professional use. Most recently they helped both myself and my 9 year old son when our young cat was run over and sadly killed. So as soon as I heard about the book, I pre-ordered it and I absolutely love it! The book is so simple and easy to use, no over-complicated text that baffles you, just straightforward explanations of all kinds of different emotions and feelings, that will work, like the cards, in both a personal or professional setting. And the book will also suit both children and adults. When our cat died, I did the cards with my son, but one day when I was more upset, my son did the cards with me. And they helped us both immensely. The book is now a fantastic addition with more depth about each emotion, and support and guidance for each one, that again does not over complicate. I can highly recommend this book to anyone (we all have emotions!) and if you don’t already have the cards, get those too! (And no this is not a sponsored review, I’m just a fan!).

New Age feeling, too superficial
The book is nicely illustrated but lacks depth and presents some emotions through New Age lens. I returned this as I don't feel I can trust it.

A superbly written Book, that complements the Mood Cards
It is a pleasure using the book, not only the images depict the emotions someone might feel, but is is also well written and easily described. The book is now part of my therapy room. Thank you Andrea.Deanna Seeff MBACP Accred Counsellor/Psychotherapist

Highly recommended for anyone
My preference :)Likes:• I really love the definitions and details.• A big amount of emotions are in the book.• Good size don't for me to read.• The added questions below the definition is a great add in for asking myself about the particular emotions.Dislikes:• It's not in ABC order like a dictionary, until the ending of the book. But of course it's only the name of the emotions in that part and not the definition.

There’s so much more value in this book than just for kids
I love this book, we have both decks and there is still so much detail and so much information in the book that adds value to not only myself but my girls while they are really looking for the right word for the feeling, or maybe other words that help define the feeling they start with, this also has helped with an exercise we’ve been working on.
